Since there is no topic about one of my favorite band - Stratovarius, here it is now. So write about everything you like and maybe dislike about the band, comment their music, albums....

Stratovarius are awesome!! or WERE very awesome I should say, the "Maniac Dance" era is a bunch ov bull. I don't like their very early stuff before Kotipelto either. Most of the '90's material was amazing.........But the era what wins my heart the most is "Infinite" and The 2 Elements albums, WOW !!! The Infinite album in particular is overwhelmingly good to me! ahhh! Also I love the subject matter on those albums.

P.S. This has crossed my mind for about a year now, the band seem suspiciously Buddhist, alot of the lyrical content seems to agree so very closely with Buddhist teachings, you'd swear they were! (or at least Tolkki, the lyric writer).

I used to like Stratovarius a lot, but recently I've been a little bored by most of their music...'Hunting High And Low' is still absolutely awesome though a long some other songs

Firts 3 are more 80tie sHM how flower metal but I dont like power flower so much

Stratovarius had their time of glory, but those years are gone. Their latest album is just pure crap. I didn't even bother to buy it. I have some really old ones, where Tolkki sings and then those more well-known ones like Elements-albums. I don't like Tolkki's voice as much as I like Kotipelto's voice, so I prefer the songs they made in the 90s. "Hunting High And Low" is good, so is "Eagleheart", but I like "Awaken The Giant" most.

I started listening metal cuz Stratovarius, for several years it was THE band for me. I think Strato died with Elements P2. Elements P1 even when it wasn't their best album, i think it's ok, but with Elements P2, Tolkki and the band, lost their creativity and made a crapy album, and later with Stratovarius - Stratovarius, well, what can i said... it' sucked ass.

I started to listen Stratovarius when I heard some track from the "Visions"-album. Tracks like "Black Diamond","Legions" and "Coming Home" blew my mind off. Nowadays I don't listen Stratovarius that much and I think that their last records have been pure shit (Stratovarius-album,WTF!?). But the records they made in the 90s are still great!

No thay split up read a MS news :p firts 2 are best of band

They definately had some really good songs throughout many albums, yet no really 'amazing' album, as they all contained some filler at some point. I really like their work on Dreamscape, Destiny, Visions and Episode.

They never actually split (as in disband). It was just TK and JM who left because of all the drama, then that girl came into the band for vocals who was shortly after booted (thank god), because TK and JM came back. Then JK was fired, cant rem if it was after or before Stratovarius album... then nothing happened.... then disband.

Finally Strato is dead... until they reunite again in one year or so

Well good things can't last forever,even if we would them to R.I.P. Stratovarius, i will keep listening all albums 'cos band can die but music can't!

@Jonas:Haha.Probably.This often happens with some bands. (Some of them even make a few reunions. )

Otherwise-it is always sad to read/hear that a band has broken up,especially such a good one. (Although,as many of you know-I'm not into power metal.I like only some power/speed metal bands.)

The end of stratovarius is of course a very bad new, but I understand Tolkki's reasons and his new project could be incredible with Michael Kiske.
