Among the Mortals is a two-man band from Oulu, Finland that began life in the year 1997. Our music is old-fashioned melodic death metal that should be somewhat similar to what bands like Death, Carcass, Eucharist etc. were doing in the early nineties.

Over the years we have been more and (often) less active, but right now both our official releases are available for streaming and free download in the wonderland that is the internet.

Release: ZILLA was formed by Paulo César and Mark Nagash in the beginning of 2002, precisely in january 20, in a small town called Vale do Amanhecer, Distrito Federal, Brazil. The initial purpose was to play a Hardcore, for this, Bodão was invited to play rhythm guitars & backing vocals.
The band's name choice was interesting. We wished a simple and straight name. A kind of spider's web is one of the first meanings for ZILLA. In Aramaic it means SHADOW, and finally for us, it means resistence.
In june 2004Zilla, Wagner became the official bass man in the team. In the same year the band made a change in its characteristic and started to play Thrash Metal.
The first recording experience came up in march 2005. The "Dry Throat Demo" was recorded containing 5 songs.
November 2006, Victor integrates the band as permanent drummer. In january 2008, the vocalist Paulo César leaves us, and he was placed by Lucas.
With the actual team, in march 2009 the band came up again with full strength recording a new demo with 7 songs called "DEMOnstration Version", only available at our MySpace and the official website.
In 2009 the band changed it's focus and begun to play Technical Melodic Death Metal. In the same year starts to record the debut album intitled Pragmatic Evolution. The album was recorded at Broadband Productions, and produced by Caio Duarte, a well known musician in the brazilian metal scene. Pragmatic Evolution was released in Brazil in may 28th, 2010.

Info - 2009 has seen Marya Roxx turn from bass player with platinum selling pop rock sensation into the credible rock/metal artist she always aspired to be.
With her debut EP '21?!' produced by Kevin Shirley (Iron Maiden, HIM) already picking up strong support across the globe she's also received great press from her recent Autumn headline tour, performing slots at Rock of Ages Festival, Hellfire Festival and her much talked about set at Hammerfest (Metal Hammer magazines Festival) where she lit up the stage alongside the likes of Opeth, Skindred and Sepultura .

Marya is now currently back in LA in the studio with Kevin Shirley putting the final touches to her debut album 'Payback time" which is also scheduled for an early 2010 release
