OT: What should I get from Solitude Aeturnus? Only have Alone so far.

You should get EVERYTHING form SA imo although Alone is darker than their earlier works (especially their first two) and the production on Downfall is very muddled which ruins the album quite a lot although the songs on it are good.

My order for King Of The Grey Islands arrived today...and it's even better than I hoped for. I especially like Of Stars And Smoke.

Hehe yeah I might. I ordered another album by them. Can't remember which one, but I think it was Chapter VI. We'll see when it arrives someday

Yes I have it here since December 27th and really enjoy it. It is way spookier than anything done by Candlemass or Krux and the emphasis is a lot more on the keyboard/organ sound.

Damn... I'm so obsessed with the song "Of Stars And Smoke".
Rob did really an awesome job on the chorus... It almost med me cry or something. Really touching stuff.

I will buy that album no matter what.

I still can't see the greatness of the s/t... I found it decent at best @___@

I never said the S/T was great just said you should get it. King Of The Grey Islands is superior to the s/t imo. But the s/t is better than Tales Of Creation, Chapter VI, and Dactylus...

Nah.. I just quoted you as an example... I have already seen some other people on this forum that say that the s/t is freaking good and same goes to all the reviws on MA [I know.. not good reviews] but I still don't understand the fuss.

Am I the only one that feels that Candlemass is going more into the direction of (US) Power Metal? Iced Earth, mostly (but perhaps that's because I don't know much other US power...)

The riffs are shorter, Rob Lowe's vocal lines are not as drawn out and wailing as those of Messiah and Lanqvuist, the music has lost heaviness through crushing riffs, and more through speed, in my opinion.

No, I'm not saying that they are now Power metal and exactly the same as Helloween, I'm saying that they are growing slightly more into that direction.

What do you all think?

I think it gets more groove but as of power metal no. Messiah's operatic falsetto like vocals sound way more suitable for a power metal band imo. I also discoverd that Messiah actually also played in a doom/power band Memento Mori.

How long band playing metal? how many years?
Of corse new albumsd isnt like 80's but its still doom, I hear new album, I didnt hear so strong US power influences, ok it wasnt slow like pure doom, but still its doom metal, in that case Black Sabbath after Ozzy n Dio isnt doom
