Nothing beats "The Fate Worse Than Death". Nothing.

Most German Industrial bands mke awfully ugly cover arts... In Extremo, Subway To Sally, Rammstein have pretty bad covers. Sehnsucht by Rammstein has a hilariously bad art, for instance. Metallica is also renowned for its uninspired and damn boring covers. Here is a list of bad cover arts:
- Iron Maiden, The Dance Of Death (wtf with those so-called 3D characters?)
- Metallica, Load (... is that fire or water?)
- Mordbid Angel, Abominations of Desolation (simple, but simply bad)
- Opera IX, The Black Opera (I'm aware there's some kinda concept in that picture, but the budget is not there...)
- Rammstein, Sehnsucht (yuk)
- Rhapsody, The Dark Secret (lolll with the guy who plays Saruman wearing a crown in the sunset, it's so ugly)
- Shadows Fall, Threads Of Life (actually lime-green and purple... makes me sick)
- Tarot, Stigmata (simply unpleasant for the eyes)
- Teräsbetoni. Metallitotuus (they look just too ridiculous)

Apocalyptica - Worlds Colide (Emo cover)
Children Of Bodom - Tokyo Warhearts (i think that cover is really funny, its like from the movie Godzilla vs The reaper III : Monsters of bodom)
Dark Tranquillity - The minds I (WTF is that??)
Haggard - Tales Of Ithiria (its like some cheap photoshop, the fire and the dragons looks so fake)
Sinergy - To Hell And Back (Kimberly Goss is ugly.......)

I can't even think of a good example off the top of my head. There are so many LAME cover arts. Sometimes people go over board with the woods and forest stuff in black metal, that's rather annoying.

Elimi's cover art is pretty gay as well.

EDIT: the Godflesh wiki page explains the origin on Load's cover, under "cinematic connections". It's taken from Andres Serrano's Blood and Semen III, but Hammet saw it first in a Godflesh video, which Justin Broadrick showed him. Also, it's a pretty good cover imo.

This is one of those bands that I haven't even listened to, but I've pretty much decided that they suck and can't be any good.

No band looking like that can be good.

St.Anger also has horrible cover art, but then again it fits with the music. I guess the art comes from a guy who first heard it and goes ZOMG!!!! I can't belief how much it sucks!!! and started to wildly smash around with his fists out of pure anger and frustration. Or it could be that he tried to find rope to hang himself after such an earape, but failed and unleashed his wrath on the rope.

Motorhead have consistently had some pretty great covers. Bomber, Overkill, Iron Fist, Orgasmatron, Rock N' Roll, Sacrifice, We Are Motorhead..... These are all amazing.

For you younger Hessians who haven't seen this, I'll apologize in advance.

Geezer in his red tights..... it's just soooo wrong on so many levels. I love Black Sabbath as much as anyone, but what were they thinking? I'm thankful that I only have this on CD, as the LP version must be truly horrific. I almost couldn't bring myself to buy this album because of the cover. Ultimatley, the awesomosity of "Hole in the Sky" won out.
