Hi all,

I have noticed that there is no other poll about Judas albums other than one for favourite seventies album. So here is the poll. I can,t include all albums from 1980 on, because there are many, so I will try to cover their golden age as much as possible.

Poll

Which is your favourite Judas Priest album from 1980-1997

Painkiller

12

What baffles me the most is how so many people like British Steel (their most overrated album to me), while I never hear anyone talk about Point of Entry. Desert Plains is awesome!

I sorta like Turbo, but mainly because it has Wild Nights, Hot And Crazy Days, but I can completely understand why some people don't like it, especially people who heard it when it was first released. Some songs on that album just make me want to stab myself in the face.

Not in the least a suprising result, Painkiller most certainly is their best work. A great album, with great songs. Screaming for Vengience, British Steel and Jugulator are my favorites.
1-Painkiller (All-time great album)
2-Screaming for Vengience (Revolutionary)
3-British Steel (Classic metal)
4-Jugulator (I really like this album, quite underrated in many circles, I think some people are too hard on Ripper, he is a very good singer.)

"Painkiller". It would have been "Defenders...", but the last 2 songs bring down an otherwise perfect album.

"Painkiller" is flawless from start to finish!

Painkiller, my all time favorite metal album. Im surprised that it's so one sided! British steel and screaming for vengance are both amazing albums too, and why have point of entry ram it down and jugulater no votes? they are all criminaly underrated

So very true

I can´t really decide between Defenders of the Faith and Painkiller. Probably Painkiller, though, due to "One Shot at Glory" (their best song IMHO) and the guitars of "Leather Rebel".

How could anyone choose between Screaming for Vengeance, Defenders of the Faith, and Painkiller?

All 3 are awesome albums. "Painkiller" just sneaks it for me, as the other 2 have one or two average tracks, whereas "Painkiller" has nothing but great songs on it.

Everybody's saying Painkiller, but I honestly think Jugulator is the band's most underrated work, so I'll go with it.

I think after all these years, I have finally decided that "Defenders Of The Faith" is my favourite Judas Priest album.
Nice to see at least someone voted for "Ram It Down" though. An underrated album.

"Ram It Down" is very underrated. There's a couple of iffy tracks on it, but overall, its very good. I see it as like a bridge album between "Turbo" and "Painkiller" because it's always seemed like a mixture of those albums to me. xD

"Screaming..." is a total classic, definitely one of Priest's finest albums.

As for "Ram It Down", well, "Love Zone" is atrocious, and "Monsters Of Rock" has always bored me, but every other song on the album, I love. lol xD

Well, you voted for Painkiller, right? IMO it's a bit overrated and I haven't yet realized that why most ppl choose it as the best Priest album ?!

I did vote for "Painkiller", but that doesn't mean I dont think any of the other albums are classics! "Screaming..." and "Defenders..." are also classic Priest albums for me.

I dont think its the best Priest album. I prefer both "Sad Wings Of Destiny" and "Stained Class" over it. lol

"Sad Wings Of Destiny" is really a nice album and it's my second favorite album by Judas Priest. actually it was ahead of its time ! but from "Stained Class" I only love "Beyond The Realms Of Death" and "Exciter"

"Sad Wings..." was totally ahead of it's time, so many elements that became staples of metal started with that album.

It took me a while to warm completely to "Stained Class", but over time, it has become a real favourite for me. The two songs you mentioned I always loved, but most of the others, grew on me. Songs like "Savage" and "Heroes End" are real underrated Priest classics IMO. "Exciter" was also way ahead of it's time, that's surely the archetypal speed metal song. That was the blueprint. xD
