I don't really know who to vote for. I love the first two Entombed albums, but the rest of their discography doesn't do much for me. For Dismember, I love their first album and their newest is really good, but the rest are kind of boring for me. Grave's middle era is kind of disappointing, but most of their songs are good. Unleashed is really the only long term consistently "true" old school Swedish death metal band, but they haven't released one album that tops the Entombed and Dismember debuts. I think I'll vote for Grave because they really don't have an album that I don't like from start to finish, and they have more songs that I love than Unleashed.

I didn't add bands like Therion, Carnage, Nihilist, etc. because they either haven't released enough material or enough "true" death metal material to compare to the other bands. I know that Entombed deviated from their initial sound, but still remained relevant enough to include on this poll.

I'm a little drunk right now, so don't bitch if I forgot a band. I intentionally didn't include Bloodbath (they would obviously win), Edge of Sanity (too proggy), and Hypocrisy (only the first two albums are relevant to this poll, but hmm maybe I should have used them).

Entombed for me...
Their first two albums are really really important for the metal scene and they were brutal as hell IMO... Good music... And not only their first albums.

Grave is actually good but don't make me feel interested

Let it be Entombed.
Same as above : their 2 first albums where milestones in metal. Listen to "Left Hand Path" and you know what I mean.
If the production was better in these days, you could not believe your ears.

I also like Unleashed. Grave and Dismember are good, but I don't listen to them very often.

Unleashed for me. Although, I like the other bands, Unleashed for me is just a great band and I have loved all of their albums. Hah, 2 years ago I seen all these bands live together at one show. It was freaking amazing.

OKay I like all four... but Entombed wins poll easily just because of the influence they've had and because of their first TWO albums which are TRUE classics.

If you like Entombed you shood like those to, its almoust same old school sound , cant explain good in english, but those bands are more undergound and more old school, I would say more demo era sound , its still what DM was in early days , even lats years those bands are know, but still image Entombed know 80% of MS members those others knows 15% and man its

''gamla svenska death metal'

''Old school SDM
Thank's debe for translation''

Nice to live here hehehhe

EDDIT : Entombed can be replaced whit odl Therion, Crematory(old), and some other one 3 album old school DM band from country

I read that post a couple of times...I think I got most of the first paragraph figured out...

EDIT - I will have to listen to some Grave before choosing, but I'd probably go with Unleashed atm. For some reason, I've never appreciated Entombed or Dismember as much as most DM fans.

I finally listened to Into the Grave, and although that is the only album I've heard by them, they get my vote. The band is skilled and able to make memorable songs, and I really appreciate the vocalist.

Unleashed is also great, of course, and the consistency throughout their albums scores points, but I'm not sure if I would personally call any of their albums classic.

I have to go with Entombed on this one. They pioneered that Sunlight Studio sound that I love so much.

No question about it, no ifs, ands or buts... For me, it's Entombed. I'm also a fan of Unleashed and Grave, but Entombed was always my favorite of the Swedish death metal scene. Not only are those guys brilliant musicians, but they're super nice as well (I got to meet and hang out with them in April 1994).

Entombed, definitely! I first got into them through "Clandestine", which I still consider to be their best album. But really, I love all their stuff! Have also seen them live twice.

"Like An Ever Flowing Stream" is a beast of an album though!

Entombed - the song "Left Hand Path" helped get me into Death Metal in the first place back in the day. gotta toss my vote their way, even if i stopped caring after the "Hollow Man" ep (which i liked, but somehow was really bored with "Wolvernines Blues" - i realize they are very similar, so i am not sure why this is.)

All four of the bands have killer debut albums, IMO. That makes it hard for me to choose. Most of my interest goes out to Unleashed, so I just have to pick them.

I do dare to say that Where No life Dwells is a classic and Shadows In The Deep is at least a semi-classic.

Entombed gets my vote, because of both their importance with the first two albums and also I just happen to end up listening to them the most. All bands are great in their own way though.

Yea I might be biased because I am not much of a fan of melodic death, and they are a handful of bands which I like that seem to skirt that territory. So, I might be a little less inclined to appreciate their albums than most, though I would still recommend their early albums to most death metal fans.

My vote goes for Dismember, mainly because of their classic output Like an Ever Flowing Stream which is my favorite Old School Death Metal release. So influence isn't really a deciding factor for me.
