It can be no surprise that being a vocalist in a band like Deathspell Omega almost automatically stands for having some grim and sinister characteristics. However, playing in a one-man pornogrind project wasn't exactly the first thing one would expect from such a guy. Yet "Pay No More Than 10?" is already the second full-length by Creamface, after releasing a whole bunch of splits and regular EP's, so you can't really say this guy doesn't know a thing or two about "the business" either.

Still, "Pay No More Than 10?" isn't exactly your average porn caricature. Although these song titles seem comical and over-the-top at first, the thing is there are real stories behind most of those titles. Throughout these 21 songs of "100% pure pornogrind", the floor is given to the pornstars themselves (although we're more likely talking about borderline exploited street whores), where these girls are shamelessly giving the glory details of their eccentric life span. Indeed, all the samples are part of "interviews" in which a male interrogator is asking hookers about their not so everyday adventures and occurrences, where marginality is obviously not far away. And sometimes he is getting some for his own record too, don't worry about that. Most anecdotes are so beyond absurd (Anal Cocaine, wtf?!) that it gets amusingly hilarious and soon you can't help but laughing your ass off... until you listen to "Ballad Of Inside-Out Rectum"... which is quite the kick-in-ass song for the rest. Arousing laughter is not really an issue here; the big challenge is arousing an erection, because face it; this isn't exactly my idea of talking dirty.

The music itself is nothing amazingly special, and this is certainly not the greatest pornogrind thing out there. However the accessibility-level of this record lies remarkably high for a grindcore record. What we have here is quite a notably melodic arrangement and very often pretty mid-paced composition of typically badass grindcore music. The unimpeachable drumming and howling guitar lines are quite remarkable though, and also Mikko Aspa's top-notch vocal work and pretty understandable growls deserve a specific mention. This is definitely the kind of record that may do it for you, one way or another.

Fucking funny shit, macabre perversions or distressingly frightful if you keep in mind these could be real stories of real girls, or just an amalgam of all those, "Pay No More Than 10?" is sure enough something you should have (s)experienced at least once in your life, with or without your consent.
