Female fronted band were trendy 3 or 4 years ago but now we don't have so many things to listen to and it's good finally because the bad combos have just disappeared. The second album of Amartia (a band from France) gave me the feeling that the band was maybe not in the good train and it was simply possible that they disappeared in the future. I was wrong actually because they're finally back with a new release, "Delicately" and had the guts to create something a lot better. That's good sometime to take a good slap in the face, I was not predicting the best for this combo but obviously I was wrong and their new CD is, this time, a real must!

No doubt, everything is better on this new release. "Marionette" clearly missed of real hits, but here we have a lot, like the really good "Delicately", "Grey Circles" or "Hightech Human" which are just examples by the way. The band is a lot more Progressive, a bit like with the last The Gathering, and include electronic sounds, a lot of keyboards and even really good guitars soli. This is absolutely not something "Symphonic" a la Epica or "poppy" a la Within Temptation. The songs are clearly Progn, with a really good female singern strong complex structures and a lot of breaks everywhere which give a certain "intelligence" to the "new" music of Amartia. We're not in front of a new Dream Theater too, Amartia is still a band which plays dark atmospheric music but with a really good modern atmosphere in reason of the electronic side (which is not really important, this is not Indus too).

This is not only the writings which are better but also the musicians. The performance of Britta Herzog is better this time and this the same with the other musicians. This time I have the feeling that Amartia has reached a real maturity and if they can follow this road, we will talk about them in the future. The production is also really good, "Delicately" is an album which will touch you and I'm sure that you'll listen to it again and again.

That's great to see that a band is able to react positively after an average release. "Delicately" is a good album of Dark Progressive Metal, with a good singer and sophisticated musicians. I hope that they will still compose the same kind of music in the future, they have their own style now and it's classy really. If you're looking for a great release with a female singer, "Delicately" is highly recommended, this is a must without any doubt.

Yes, I agree totally on this with you Thanks for pointing me in the direction of this disc, it's been a great introspective and relaxing disc for me in the past week! The lyrics on this are very good too, I'm still exploring them. I also give a thumbs up to the last song on the CD too, a favorite of mine.

You are right about this not being a poppy or symphonic disc - there isn't any hints of commercialism running through this disc, which I'm really liking. Of course I love most of the symphonic bands too, but really, these types of bands are more special to me - lyrics win me over every time. I hope some more people check out this band

For some reason, as soon as I saw a review on this band/album I kinda knew it was done by Jeff and I wasn't wrong. It either has to do with the fact that they are rare or they are french..or both. Jeff..wat is it?!lol.

Anyhow, nice review..am listening to it now. am in love with 'Grey Circles'. I have had it on replay for the past 45mins..
