Iced Earth: although the sound wasn't great (but got better by the end), I liked this show more than the two previous Iced Earth shows I had attended so far. They looked more like a band this time, although they didn't really kick ass. My highlight: Burning Times.

Saxon: I'm not familiar with the band's discography but that was the second time I saw them and that didn't prevent me from enjoying myself a lot. The new songs were as good as the old classics and the band members deliver the goods.

Some people, who attended the Belgian show, told me Saxon should have opened for Iced Earth instead of the other way around. I was told the heaviness and tempo of Iced Earth were no match for Saxon's more old school kind of heavy metal. But in Brussels most people were there for Saxon anyway.

Also, both bands only played one hour slots? Nice co-headlining tour...

Blasphemy? Ow please, what kind of an argument is that anyway?! If we were talking Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival Tour where Slayer is opening for Marilyn Manson, I could quite understand.

Besides US Power metal is indeed influenced by traditional heavy metal, but that does not necessarily mean that British Heavy metal "made" US Power metal, far from it. I don't believe Saxon was the main influence of Iced Earth. The only obvious connection between both bands is they're signed under the same label, and the oldest of the two is headlining.

Not the main influence, but influence of influences maybe.

Iced Earth is way more popular than Saxon, so it is normal that Saxon opens for Iced Earth instead of the other way around/

But this isn't the case. Saxon is headlining this tour.

both are kickass bands so it's irrelevant

Aha, I see I misunderstood that part. well I find a co-healinging tour for these two even weirder.
If I was the promotor I think I would let Saxon headline in the UK and have Iced Earth support them there, and would have Iced earth headline (except maybe for Belgium apparently) and Saxon support them.
