Here is the new thread to one of the oldest thrash metal bands around. (They have been around since 1980.) They are indeed one of my all-time favorite bands. In this thread, you can post about what your favorite album/song is, what new things are going on in the band, etc. My favorite songs are 'Elimination', 'Hello From The Gutter', and 'In Union We Stand'.

This band really sucks! I hated them back in the 80's when thrash was really happening and I hate them today when they are just a sorry relic of a time that has passed them by and where they didn't make it in the first time! So .. Overkill go suck my d**k!

I hope the fans of Overkill don't find my post offensive?

I do. As someone said before, not only because your wrong choice of words, but also because you didn't clarify your point at all. It is respectable, and it should be this way, for you to dislike a band... but if you come across a thread to post this shite (sorry mate, this is wrong choice of words ), you can easily expect someone to take this insulting.

Personally, I enjoy most Overkill albums very much, I find them one of the most solid and regular bands in the whole scene, proved with their latest album, "Ironbound", which in my opinion was the best album back in 2010 and, for my taste, and I remark this, MY taste, it can be perfectly placed among their best classics such as "Under the Influence" or "The Years of Decay".

And yah, it's one of my favourite bands, such a shame I couldn't see them live yet.

I only enjoy their first two albums, that was back when those were released and still to this day. Overkill were and are the most powerless of the thrash bunch, both musically and vocally. If there is one powerless whiny wheezing vocalist it's Bobby. Totally nice guy though, but not fit to be called a thrash vocalist.

but to be honest this is not the way to go about the Overkill thread. Let the people that like Overkill discuss it and the rest of us should really stay away. By the way let me say I'm sorry for my choice of words in the previous post. I was a bit "aggrivated" to begin with and finding the Overkill thread didn't make it any better. I do still of course have all the respect for a band that did long and (I'm sure) hard service for the genre.

Why should we stay away? This threads is about Overkill, so also negative opinions about them are allowed. It be dead boring to read only praise about them. I respect them for going on so long but that doesn't make them good or isn't a reason to say bad things about them.

Agreed with Marcel. I love Overkill but it'd be lame if all I had to read in this thread was people circle-jerking over their favorite Overkill album.

You can express yourself anytime you wish, and of course you can criticize and talk any stuff you want about any other band you dislike, in fact, forums and life in general would be dead fucking boring if everyone liked the same music and the same damned bands, I was just saying that everything should be said with respect. And expressions such as "Overkill go suck my d*ck" are totally out of place here because for many fans, including myself, those words may sound irrespectful and to them, and, from my point of view, they actually do.

It's not like "hey, you don't dig Overkill, so stay out of this thread and comment on any other band you like better", no. It's rather like "hey, you don't like this band, we're all okay with this and you can express yourself free of insults and expressions than can be taken as insulting".

There are tons of ways of speaking, and you chose probably the worst of all of them. Just that.

But again, this is only my opinion. Now let's get back to Overkill.

I know that but I think it's a bit unimaginative and lame though.

Well, actually I couldn't care less about band's names. As long as they play kick ass music, I mean.

At 14:50, Blitz mentions that two of the Big Four contacted Overkill to take them on tour. Doesn't mention which ones, but I'm pretty sure that it's Anthrax and Megadeth-they were supposed to tour with Anthrax last year but didn't so that they could work on The Electric Age, and Megadave brought Overkill out on one of the Gigantours. Would be really cool if either one of the two tours happened. Or maybe even all three bands.

I always liked Overkill but for some reason it was Horrorscope that got me to love them. I'm not as keen on the late 90s and early 2000s stuff but really like Immortalis, Ironbound and The Electric Age. It's great that a band I grew up listening to are still making great music.

PS I happen to really like Bobby's vocals. They're so distinctive that Overkill wouldn't be Overkill without him.
