Aside from having top tier song writing, including some of the best lyrics, Tommy T Baron is possibly THE guitar god. The music just moves in a hypnotizing swirl, entraping anyone who hears it. I find it best to listen to thier albums Mental Voterx and No More Color passively, to just lay back and let it wash over you, I've gotten some of my best moods and thoughts out of doing this.
The band is simply legendary yet simply overlooked.
Unfortunately they were one of many victims to the Noise Label's imfamous screwjobs, and was forced to disband. They're not even listed on Noise's website for christ's sake!

I personnaly prefer No More Color than Mental Vortex. Both are awesome, though. Grin is great, less agressive and more progressive.

One of my favorite thrash metal bands of all time. I have only heard two albums however, but both are absolutely amazing. I own R.I.P. and have heard Punishment for Decadence. Amazingly talented and mindblowing, I could probably listen to these guys all day. It's a shame we aren't able to hear any new material from this intelligent band..

Oh man. Where to start. I'll try to make it as short as possible. Arguably my favorite band of ALL TIME...yes I said ALL TIME. I first discovered them watching MTV's Headbangers Ball - "Masked Jackal". Picked up "Punishment for Decadence" and fell in love with it. The musicianship impeccable, the lyrics dark and tantilizing and the tone of album extremely fast yet organized. Listened to it over and over. I saw them live in '88 opening up for Kreator & actually met Ron Royce and had a beer with him during the show (I was 16 years old and never had a beer muchless some foreign swedish ale I've never heard of)! He told me his favorite band was Rush (Mine too) and that the name of the new album is "No Caller"... Kreator was sooo loud I couldn't tell he was saying "No More Color" I anticipated every new release with great hope and expectation and they delivered every time .... No More Color, Mental Vortex and the pinnacle of my progressive/tech/thrash endeavor - GRIN My favorite cd EVER!!! It is a culmination of all of Coroner's hard work and explorative minds from their previous albums. A perfect blend of progressive metal and technical thrash. I wish there were a reunion!!!

I gave some recommendation in a forum... Coroner among them and someone just said it was "meh" because it sounded like late Overkill. I'm hearing overkill right now but fail to see anything similar... Now there are two obtions: - I'm deaf - The dude is just wrong. Pfff.. Coroner are the shit when it comes to thrash!, I can't believe some metalhead can't like this band.

I don't get the hype here about Mental Vortex. Punishment for Decadence is so much better - it's faster and has much more active guitar riffs

As I stated in another thread: I 'm mad at myself for NOT listening Coroner from the beginning. I was into Kreator, Sodom...at that time and I knew Coroner, but for some bizarre reason I didn't took time to listen properly to them. Shame on me! Anyway, that was the past. Since 2001 or something it's one of my favorite thrash bands. I like all albums and No More Color the most (at this time) The song R.I.P. from R.I.P. is one of my favs. Punishment For Decadence is indeed better then Mental Vortex (and R.I.P. and Grin)

When asked about a Coroner reunion, the bands reply was "not enough time or interest". A great loss for present day metal.

To me Punishment for Decadence and No More Color are kind of messy compared to Mental Vortex and especially Grin. I think Mental Vortex has catchier riffs and is just better overall than the previous albums. As far as Grin, I used to not dig it, but now I think it's pure brilliance. Different from all other albums with unique songwriting and sound. "Host" is a masterpiece.

Inteview with Tommy T. Baron We might see the new album although the chances are not so high. Interesting interview. It's nice to know why they disbanded. Also Tommy says some controversial things about Mille Petrozza.

"My cry echoes on a naked wall cold like a crystal...numbered hours creeping insanity strangles reality..." Coroner are still one of my all time favorite bands. I think the very first album I got was No More Color followed immediately with Punishment For Decadence. My brother and I were the only ones really to get into Coroner out of all of our friends. I never did see them live and I regret that. I am blown away that it only takes three guys to make that music.
