Dockyard 1 - Newsletter July 2006

This is the last newsletter of the German label, Dockyard 1!

New Signings:

- DEADSTAR ASSEMBLY:
This is really a couple of new signings in a row, and DeadStar Assembly are the outstanding first: DEADSTAR ASSEMBLY are sunny South Florida's dark side. The troupe of musical avant-gardes deliver a sinister sound so intense and fierce that it burns. Like demented seraphim, DSA's poisonous blend of death-pop industrial rock is setting the world ablaze with no apologies. Formed in 2002 by singer Dearborn, DSA was a meticulous formation that was birthed before any additional members even joined the band. The selftitled debut sold over 10.000 units independently four years ago, now the German press is raving about the successor "Unsaved". And we'll release it to you!

- F- RONTSIDE:
FRONTSIDE is Europe's answer to bands like Bleeding Through and Killswitch Engage! FRONTSIDE already won a Grammy in their native country Poland for non-compromising death metal in the vain of SLAYER or VADER mixed with the power of hardcore heroes like BIOHAZARD or HATEBREED. Their upcoming album was already released Polish-only, we will offer you the English translation "Twilight of The Gods. A First Step To The Mental Revolution" on August 28th.

Nergal of BEHEMOTH fame comments on them:
"This band proves that metalcore may have BIG balls! Mindblowing energy with lots of melody. Awesome band!"

Martin from DECAPITATED adds:
"These guys are one of the best bands I've seen on stage in last few years! Their music is fresh and powerfull, a must have!"

- WINGDOM
Ex-Sonata Arctica keybordist MIKKO HARKIN and ex-RHAPSODY bass player ALESSANDRO LOTTA collaborating with other talented Finnish musicians like JUKKA RUOTSALAINEN, SAMI ASP and MARKUS NIEMISPELTO - the outcome is very melodic music with progressive elements and a sharp metallic edge. This cought the interest of Timo Kotipelto of STRATOVARIUS fame. He enjoyed the fresh and original appearance of the music and offered to release the album "Reality" through his own label High and Loud.
"This was the first band that really impressed me so much that I wanted to sign it to my label", says Timo. "We are really happy to work with Timo. Hes a good friend and that makes our cooperation very comfortable", smiles Mikko.

- REDKEY
A new star's up on the firmament of Power Metal: REDKEY are hailing from the town in Germany where VW started to run around the globe, and the members of REDKEY are also long-distance runners: Former HEAVEN's GATE singer Thomas Rettke and guitar player Sascha Paeth didn't play together for 15 years. Till now! Now they're back. Back with a new outfit called REDKEY and the new album "Rage Of Fire", out in September. But REDKEY isn't a simple succession of HEAVEN'S GATE, it's a new step: This is NWoBHM translated to the 21st century, mainly influenced by mighty Judas Priest plus the sound of US-metal in the likes of Racer X or Vicious Rumours.

Andreas Schöwe of Metal Hammer states:
If you take the outstanding quality of this album there has to happen something really wicked if "Rage of Fire" doesn't hold the key to success for REDKEY!"

News:

- SHELTER: Tourdates changed:
The SHELTER dates have changed, here's the up-and-current and confirmed tourdates.
The new SHELTER album "Eternal" has been released internationally yesterday on June 26th - SHELTER's back with 10 new songs and a remake of "In Defense Of Reality", the title track of the 1991' album. The songs on "Eternal" tie in directly where "Mantra" and "Beyond Planet Earth" left off - charismatic, energetic and charming with heartfelt lyrics and meaning.

- MANNHAI video for "Spaceball":
MANNHAI have filmed a video to the track "Spaceball". Watch the video directly here or go to the band's homepage and find it there. It's a droning-stoning piece of a video! The track "Spaceball" was released as a single in Finland in January and ruled the single charts (!) for 3 weeks in a row. The full album "Hellroad Caravan" is now out on Dockyard 1 - Germany's Metal Hammer is praising it as...
"...cool Heavy Rock in the likes of Monster Magnet, Black Sabbath, Kyuss and Amorphis spiced with classic Hard Rock and scandinavian attitude."

- CELESTY: studio update:
Our Finnish power metal hope CELESTY just started recording their third album at Midas Studios, Vaasa, Finland. The man behind the table is Sami "Hannu" Koivisto, who has also worked with Amorphis, Norther, Velcra ...and for example WALTARI on their latest "Blood Sample", out on Dockyard 1. The Producer is Arttu Volanto, a young talented producer.
CELESTY drummer Jere Luokkamäki has recorded all the drum tracks and will keep you updated in the CELESTY blog on their Myspace.

- AFTER ALL on tour with the KING:
June was quite a busy month for Belgian thrashers After All... First of all, they took the road to join KING DIAMOND on the final leg of his European tour. Highlights were the big shows in Tilburg (Holland) and London (UK). After the King tour, After All were invited to play shows with EXODUS (Hengelo, NL), ANVIL (Aalst, Belgium) and ARMORED SAINT (Arnhem, NL) - all in one week, with a headlining show in Paris in between! Needless to say the band was very honoured to be invited by these great bands. Last show in June is the Thrash Till Death festival in Germany.
...what a great way to get warmed up for the release of the new After All album "This Violent Decline" on July 31st!

- AS WE FIGHT are ready to head into the studio:
AS WE FIGHT will be heading into the studio to record the follow-up to their successful debut "Black Nails and Bloody Fists". They're gonna lock themselves into Smart'n'Hard Studio with Jacob Bredahl from July 4th to July 28th and promise "daily updates" on their homepage - so don't miss this new step in Danish hardcore!

- MYSTIC CIRCLE: Mexico + South America dates confirmed:
They're bringing darkness and grimness to sunny and bright places:
Long-running German Black Metal band MYSTIC CIRCLE are pleased to finally announce their tour to Mexico and South America, see tourdates for details.
