HELLRATS is my grindcore/scum punk band. I play drums and do vocals on these recordings. Influences include old Carcass, old Napalm Death, GG Allin, Murder Junkies, Nattefrost, Dr. Shrinker, The Mentors and Anal Cunt. We are currently working on a GG Allin cover.

About 10-15 minutes including time taken to talk shit between songs.

Does your band get a lot of shows? My band hardly gets shows and we're progressive dethcore...I just don't see Grindcore being a popular draw...I was in this grindcore band called Urinal Cakes...didn't go far...

House parties mostly and even then people usually don't know what they're getting in to. HELLRATS hasn't played any shows but it came from the ashes of another grind band called Pigchild (we kicked one guy out and reformed under a new name). When we played actual shows ,not just parties, it was with hardcore punk bands in Chicago. Really getting a small extreme band booked is just knowing the right people and being in a heavily populated area. I live about 3 hours from the city now though, so there isn't as big an audience.

Really though it's just about getting trashed and being loud...we're pretty content just playing in my basement for the most part.

The lyrics to "S.P.R.A.Y" are fuckin' great, funny shit and probably the best written of the lot. Any one who hasn't heard Zombie, M.D.'s work should definitely check it out, I became a fan the first time I heard it..waiting for him to release some more good tunes.
