I'm going with Petri. Don't get me wrong I love the earlier albums but I think that too many of the songs with Yari were just about sorrow. But thats just my opinion.

I like petri, but jari is better. i firmly believe jari held a lot back for Ensiferum, and wintersun is proof of this. jari's voice (both clean and growly) is very heroic sounding. whereas Petri's is more, i guess, monotonous. i dont hate it, but it is pretty much the same vocal style in most every song (not all. just most). both of them are great musicians, and they are both way up on my top list of influential singer/guitarists.

and secondly @Beowulf: yeah, jari does sing a lot about sorrow doesnt he? just noticed that too. even in wintersun. especially in wintersun

Had to vote for Petri, even though I like the first two albums very much. This was more like a "counterreaction" to the fact that Jari and Wintersun are ridiculously overrated. I mean Wintersun is good, but c'mon, it's not like the wheel was reinvented there or anything...

As a matter of fact, hardly half Wintersun songs are "really" good, IMO... Other four tracks are looong and saaad. And the word "death" is said like one fucking million times on the album. That's SO cliché.

I really really enjoy Ensiferum's new album From Afar, but as a whole I think Jari was better for the band. Some of my favorite tracks are from Iron, moreso than any release with Petri on it. However, the work released with Petri is very solid.

Petri should go back to norther.

I think Petri fits the band much better vocally, but we all know Jari is a MUCH BETTER songwritter and guitarist than Petri!

I voted for Petri...though debut Ensiferum album is great, Iron still very good and Victory Songs are slightly weaker, the new album convinced me fully, that the "new Ensiferum" are worth enough

I like new Ensiferum+Norther more than old Ensiferum+Wintersun so i vote for Petri :p

Gotta go with Petri on this one. Jari may be a better player, but as a whole, the band has become more melodic in the Petri era. "From Afar" is head and shoulders my favorite Ensiferum album, and the greater variety in the vocals is one of the reasons.

You have to understand, you are obviously dumb in one's eyes if you dont agree with him...for some people you are "dumb" if you like Burzum, for others you are dumb if you dont like Burzum and dont respect Varg as musician, for someone you are dumb when liking Petri singing in Ensiferum

There was a moment on the new Ensiferum album where I thought "damn man this shit sounds like the good old days" then Petri fucked it in the ass.

So yeah...jari = win

And who cares if Jari or Wintersun is overrated? most of the people who say that listen to like 50 bands who others think are overrated so its really a stupid argument. When a band is popular some people will think its great others will think its monkey cock just because the band gets a lot of attention....perfectly logical.

No worries seriously but everyone has thier own opinion and I said what I feel about Ensiferum both before Jari left and after that as for you as a person well I couldn't care less if you are dumb or as smart as Steven Hawking.

I only liked the band when Jari was in it. I'm really not a fan of Petri's vocals.

Jari and Petri should just go back where they belong, Ensiferum and Norther. Don't get me wrong I like Wintersun, but the new Ensiferum album sounded like Nightwish with growls, I doubt that would have had happened if Jari was still writing a good portion of the music. And Petri was the last original member of Norther.

Anyways i hve to go fo petri, i love his black metalish vocals and it goes really good with the music
and i am not a big ensuferium (sorry i always have trouble spelling it)fan, but i absolutly love from Afar, i also have been able to find alot more extreme power elements in it also,(not sure if petri contributed or not) which also has it more appieling to me ( i like norther 10 times more, well petri norther) and with Petri out of norther i can pratically guarrenty that Ensiferum well just get more melodic, becuase i am sure that Petri has alot of Melodic Death metal written and such and nowhere else to contribute but ensiferum. (Unless he goes and makes another band and has to leave ensiferum like jari)

But of course this is just theroretical
