I like Doom Metal and want to know more about nice albums and bands. plz just recommend nice albums or even songs over here and discuss about them. not important if its famous either. I recommend you to take alook at Forest Of Shadows's "Where Dreams Turn To Dust" EP album. and surely take a look "Eternal Autumn" which is in that album either. but find the self-released one which is not in the cd, its more nice I think. and the other song which I recommend you is "Black God" by MDB, which one of the best Doom songs Ive ever heard! a song which doesnt have any Drums, Bass and Guitars! just Keboards (MDB have other songs like this). I have a tattoo on my breast called Black God by old english font hehe! but not as my nick screams! a normal one!

Well I'm not expert in Doom Metal music at all. In fact I listen to it least.. But after all I tried some Doom Metal albums, and I found two bands so interesting.. Warning and Candlemass.. Above all Watching From Distance by Warning blew my head. I really liked the vocals on that album.. That's indeed the best Doom Metal album I've ever heard.. Again another outstanding album in Doom Metal field in my opinion is Epicus Doomicus Metallicus by Candlemass.. And of course The Silent Enigma is something you can't deny.. That's really good. Why not Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath..? I liked that album as well..

I should recommend "Flegethon (Rus) - Cry Of The Ice Wolves II"...band is labeled as "Black/Funeral Doom" and the album is single song lasting 41 minutes and it is really great

Reading Marcel's list there was no pure drone, hence I will give the name of the drone bands.

Boris
Bunkur
Earth
Goatsnake
Sunn O)))

I don't like them whatsoever, but I have find a lot of hype around them, so maybe, maybe, somebody likes them when he/she listens to it.

I didn't mention any Saturnus albums because I don't regard them as one of the best 85 ever. They wouldn't even make my top 100 doom albums. They are nice and all but just not best ever material in my opinion.

When u've said doom ... the only thing coming to my mind was Forest Of Shadow's Where Dreams Turn To Dust ! bt u've already mentioned them. I think the album is one of a kind, i couldn't really find an album of this genre which really matches its beauty. One band I can recommend is Swallow The Sun !

Aaaww Marcel, thanks for the recommendations, I'm totally having a look at this stuff, now I know some albums I need to check.

BTW, I like both Mar De Grises albums but sometimes I like more "Draining The Waterheart" than "The Tatterdemalion Express", but in the end, I think both albums are outstanding. Same for Ahab.

Both albums are equally brilliant imo. But one can be better than the other because of my mood while listening to the music. If I want a more harsh and heavy doom I'll go for the debut. If I want something more atmospheric and beautiful I'll go for "Draining..."

Marcel put a great list there, so I'll hope you do your homework and check all the bands!

I recommend "Martyr" by Satrunus for ppl who like dark Doom. all songs are really nice cant mention just a song from this album. but "Inflame Thy Heart" is my favorite song.

For The Loveless Lonely Nights [EP] by them is another album which I recommend to Dark Doomers. and Christ Goodby [live] is my favorite in this album.

Some really nice lists from Marcel and Az... although put me on the Pequod, because i think Ahab certainly belongs on the short list of Doom to check out.

granted i am not nearly as well-versed as either of them in the area, but Marcel has tossed a lot of suggestions my way, and Ahab stacks up very favorably.

another band omitted that i dig is Colosseum.

Yeah, that whole album is a great masterpiece. Also worth mentioning that they first released a demo before this album which is probably one of the absolutely first real death/doom metal shit ever released.

Not doom? Then what the hell are they? Last time I saw them live they were certainly doom. Novembers Doom isn't doom but Saturnus sure as hell are. Calling them not doom is like saying Swallow The Sun aren't doom, or Officium Triste, or My Dying Bride etc etc

Ok, well Im not a big fan either I always found them very mediocre and average. Not bad but not anything special either.

I second those opinions. Novembers Doom was a big disappointment. But I've always found quite interesting when a band releases crappy albums but live plays good or really good or amazing. Maybe they should only release live albums.
