USA, Miami, FL - 70000 Tons Of Metal 2011

Imagine starting the year in style. In January 2011, when everyone else is stuck with cold weather, snow and rain, 40 Heavy Metal bands and 2000 fans will take over a luxury cruise ship in the Caribbean for a 5 day and 4 night trip of a lifetime.

Tons of onboard live shows on several in and out door stages, open mic nights, bars that never close, a fun- and sun-filled day on the beautiful island of Cozumel (Mexico) and an opportunity to mingle side-by-side with the artists in this incredibly fan-friendly scenario that has no comparison.

Day 1 Miami FL: We will be sailing out of Miami in the afternoon. The live shows will start shortly after departure and will extend late into the night while we set course for Cozumel.

Day 2 Day on Sea: A whole day on the open seas, sailing along the Cuban coast. Enjoy tons of live shows all day and night long, workshops, bars that never close (again; bars that never close!), poker tournament in the casino, an open mic night, and tons of other onboard activities.

Day 3 Cozumel MEXICO: The ship will arrive at the beautiful island of Cozumel in the early morning and will be docked the whole day. If your hangover is not too bad you can leave the ship for the day and choose from many exciting activities. You can go snorkeling or horse-back riding, visit some ancient Mayan sites or just hang at the beach, have some margaritas and tacos - and swim in beautiful, blue waters!

Day 4 Day on Sea: If you thought the first day on sea was good - you will be blown away on this day! All this while you have the opportunity to mingle side-by-side with your favorite artists in this incredibly fan-friendly scenario that has no comparison. It's like everyone has a backstage pass. This is more then just a cruise vacation. It is also more then just a Heavy Metal festival. This is 70000tons of METAL. For artists and fans alike, the trip of a lifetime!

Day 5 Miami FL: The ship will arrive in Miami in the morning. You might even need a vacation from this vacation when all is said and done!

It's a fantastic idea because gigs/accommodation/food etc is all right there. It's like a festival on a ship. It also provides bands with more exposure and a larger audience than just a solo gig.

What a great idea...too bad 95% of the bands are gay as fuck. 3-4 grand to see Malevolent Creation, Marduk, Arsis and Obituary...Ill pass. Sorry Im just hatin...but godamn how great it would be if there was a decent lineup. Screw all those sleep inducing power metal bands and go all American Death Metal and European Black Metal. Y'know like Deicide Nile Immolation Suffocation Mayhem Immortal or even Cynic.

There's nothing I can say that can justify how amazing the cruise was. The bands, the fans, the staff of Majesty Of The Seas... No one can speak ill of a single thing. Burton of Fear Factory even got up during dinner in the dining hall on the last night and made a toast in front of everyone and said that this is the greatest festival of all and that he and everyone should be proud of the whole damn thing. Testament wanted it go keep going for two more days and we got the feeling that the bands wanted it to keep going as long as the fans wanted it to.

Kareoke was another highlight. Memebers of bands were singing karaoke with fans and everyone was just having a great time. Search YouTube for some videos, I'm sure you'll fnd them.

More details about next year will be announced soon as far as we've heard from the promoter through the grapevine.
