What is that one CD you have, that is not metal, that is one of your most favorites?
One that you believe belongs in everyone's collection.

For me it is Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
I love how the entire album sounds and feels, David Gilmours playing is full of emotion.
The song Wish You Were Here touches me every time I hear it, takes me back to when my father passed away...
Dark Side Of The Moon may be more popular, but for my ears, this is one of the greatest albums ever.

What is yours?

Coldplay are love it or hate it band , it can either sound very inspirational and emotional, or an utterly boring musical act
I can see on which side you are

ColdPlay - X&Y ... I have always loved Coldplay and everything about them
they write great music and top-notch lyrics and even Viva La Vida did not disappoint
there are some more probably Eminem and The Cranberries

EDIT : Forgot to mention the great Are You There by Mono

Agreed. I don't understand all the hate Coldplay gets. X&Y is a good album I used to listen to a long time ago especially "Clocks."
Yeah, Viva La Vida didn't disappoint but it was weaker than their older stuff.

I don't actually care for those who hate Coldplay just because they are mainstream
and yes Viva la Vida was weaker but still has some great songs in it

Agreed! Anyways, it's nice to know that there are Coldplay fans here.

One of the weirdest albums I've ever heard.

Electronic/Ambient/Indie Rock with lots of experiamentalism and even a capella moments.

Too bad it lacks the trip-hop that overflows in their other works, but TV on the Radio has always lots to offer. o/

Great album, but I don't see how you could call it non-metal. Sure, it has some neofolk influences and such, but it's pretty clean metal nonetheless.

The album 8 by Orom is all dark ambient with no metal to be found, so does it count? If so, 8 would be my favorite non-metal album.

If you like Russian Circles, check their previous effort out. Station in my opinion was way better, maybe their best.

Anyways for me

Alexi Murdoch - Time without consequences (Indie folk/singer songwriter)
RHCP - Blood sugar sex magik/By the way
Jazzsteppa - Jazzsteppa (Dubstep)
Colour Haze - All/Tempel (Psychedelic stoner)
Amplifier - Amplifier (Psychedelic spacey rock)
Black Stone Cherry - Black Stone Cherry (Southern Stoner rock)
Have a nice life - Deathconsciousness (Shoegaze, noise)
Jesu - Conqueror/Silver (Shoegaze, post rock)
Karma to burn - Appalachian Incantation (Stoner rock)
Zero 7 - Simple Things (Trip hop, down tempo)
Frou Frou - Details (Trip hop, down tempo)
OSI - Blood/Free ( Progressive/Alternative Rock..in the vein of PT)
Toast Machine - Rock Wattage (Funk rock, just two dudes on drums and bass, so I guess this would actually be DnB )
My Sleeping Karma - Tri (Psychedelic stoner rock)
Thievery Corporation - Richest man in Babylon (Trip hop, down tempo)
The Crystal Method - Vegas (Breakbeat electronica )
OM - God is good (Psychedelic stoner)

Damn, thats a huge list, there are a lot more stoner rock albums that I dig, but I'm just too lazy to keep typing, I have typed too much already

The LOTRO scores are composed by Howard Shore (if I remember correctly). Enya just sings on one end credits track, she doesn't have anything else to do with them. (So does Emiliana Torrini, btw. She's cool.)

^^ Two very nice albums, the later being unfairly ignored by many.

What first comes to my mind are Pind Floyd's WYWH or Mahavishnu Orchestra's Birds Of Fire. But while I'm writing so many names pop up, King Crimson, Yes, Anglagard, Miles Davis... it's almost impossible to pick one.
