With possibly the cheesiest album cover ever, this album was the most experimental of Megadeth's career. Unfortunately, it was before the recording of this album that Gar Samuleson and Chris Poland were thrown from the band, a very tragic loss. But this album is a great recovery from the loss of such great players. With new recruits Jeff Young on Guitar and Chuck Behler on skins, this new line up was ready to rip some fuckin' heads off. So far things were good, but so what? It doesn't matter as long as they keep kicking ass.

Stuck in between the genre-defining classics of Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? and Rust In Peace lies the sleeping giant that is So Far, So Good... So What?. The 2004 re-release of this album finally allows the music to shine through and makes a solid case for the album as more than the awkward middle child that it seemingly has gone down as in the discography of Megadeth.

Just got this today, it's ok not brilliant. Maybe it'll take a few more listens. The standout track is definatly 'Anarchy In The U.K.'

I can understand that people like the song. But can't understand that they find it the stand-out track of the album.

The only thing that stops me giving SFSGSW a rating of 10, is because of the Anarchy In The UK cover. Its not that I don't like it, but its completely overshadowed by Megadeth's originals on the album. Also, the "happy" nature of the song, is totally at odds with the other songs. It interrupts the flow of the album for me. I know "Peace Sells" also contained a happy sounding cover, but strangely enough, I think that one does fit the album...

The original production on this album (not the remaster) wasnt great, but in a way, that worked in it's favour. Lending the sound a very eerie quality. I know this one is always unfairly overlooked in favour of either of the 2 classics it's sandwiched between, but Ive always held SFSGSW in very high esteem. There's not a single bad song on it, with overlooked classics like the monstrous openers "Into The Lungs Of Hell/Set The World Afire", the scathing "Liar", and my personal fave "Mary Jane" easily holding their own with the more well known classics from this album. "In My Darkest Hour" and "Hook In Mouth".

Many would not regard this as a classic Megadeth album, but I definitely would. Well, thats if Im not counting the Pistols cover!

Thank you kind sir.

Most people see So Far... as being in between 2 classics, whereas Ive always seen it as part of their string of classic albums. xD Which I think is no mean feat, considering that album was released at the height of their drug-abuse and near self-destruction. Its more haunting and chaotic than the 2 albums its in between, and definitely has its own special charm. Well, for me anyways!

Not one bad song on this album. For me the weakest is the opening instrumental, but it's still a good song. The absolute classics on this album are Set the World on Fire, In my Darkest Hour and Hook in Mouth. I reckon this is the best Megadeth Album after RIP and PSBWB.

I can understand why some fans of the band don't like this album, but i can also understand those who say this album is so underrated. Its probably not that easy living in the shadow of an album as widely hailed as 'Peace Sells...', but with songs like the incredibly dark 'In my darkest hour' and stunning instrumental 'Into the lungs of hell' its hard not to ignore the fact that this album tried hard too. It isn't always that consistent, but it still does give a somewhat forceful punch.

Its an underrated album. First i didnt like it, but it grew on me and i realized the greatness of it. "Into the lungs of Hell" could easily be one of the best instrumental songs. "Hook in Mouth" and "Liar" are great songs, love them both and "In my darkest hour" belongs to Megadeths finest work. Even the "Sex pistols" cover is not bad. So its worth to buy it.

It's a great album, rust in peace would be much better. As for this album, Hook in mouth sucks... Maybe the worst song of megadeth in the 80's

Wrong, it's pretty much the best song on the album next to Darkest Hour and Set The World Afire.

Pure drinking music and some of Megadeth's best and most original work is on here. Mary Jane is simply stunning, In My Darkest Hour is a classic, just a great album, yes I'd say under rated.

After a long time. I finally realized how brilliant this album is. Now I consider it the second best album from Megadeth. The first one is still Peace Sells.

This would have probably been my second-favorite Megadeth album too if it wasn't for that awful Sex Pistols cover. Feels totally out of place. I remember once liking it for some reason though.

That said, I love Jeff Young's guitar work here, fits the dark mood of the album perfectly.
