You should travel. It's Absu so it's fucking worth it. I'm going to Seattle from Reno to see the show. Ultimately if I had the money I would travel the entire west coast following the tour, but I don't have that money

I'm already going to Pennsylvania to see Carcass and NY to see Mayhem/Marduk. As much as I want to, the wallet isn't so supportive.

I think its time to get some feedback on how the new Absu album has gone down. I am interested to know and I cannot find a post that covers this topic.

In my opinion it is one of the best albums ever! Its perfectly controlled chaos!

I love the new Absu album, before it was released I didn't have much interest in them at all but the track 'Nunbarshegunu' is killer...well the whole album is but that track especially the opening is cool. I'm gonna check out Tara next I think

so i re-listened to every absu album up until the new one, and they sound quite boring and generic. tara is by far the best but overall it's only a decent album, nothing close to a masterpiece. it's clear to me that this band doesn't deserve the attention it gets.

I´m familiar with Absu(Baratrum Vitriol) since ´95. Not disappointed clearly but changes of musicians harm the (un)equilibrium.

I know it's a matter of tastes but it's clear to me that you miss their greatness.

I've got the self-titled album. I like it a lot, but I don't think it's particularly amazing. I'll have to check out Tara.

I agree with M. here. AbZu is better and they don't need to make a 50+ minute record to convince me

^ Ha each to their own. Shorter yes. But Absu has that oomph in it haha. Maybe after a few more listens I'll change my mind.

^ I'm still waiting for a second 'Tara'. Don't like 'Abzu' so much. I more like 'Absu'.

I should be able to comment on the new album soon. I received an e-mail from Napalm Records last week, confirming that my copy has been shipped.

The Third Storm Of Cythraul and Tara ! fucking epic albums

I've been on sort of an Absu kick lately. I really like Abzu and I see a lot of people bantering about it compared to Tara. My opinion is that the differences in the band on those two albums are really not all that much different. Abzu maybe isn't as "black metal" as Tara but the albums aren't so different you can't tell it's the same band. It's not like comparing In Flames' latest to, say, Whoracle. Both Abzu and Tara are great in their own right.

Either way, Absu is so...

Pure next level brilliance is what Absu brings with this album. I love every sodding minute of it. Great variation and feeling put into a wicked composition throughout all these tracks. Technical, yet respecting old-school, black metal and black/thrash with a hell of a lot of exotic sublines. One of the best albums of 2011, for sure!
