On most debut albums the songs are all very good - it's most likely a best of from all the years the band existed before they got a record deal. But unfortunately, the band is not famous enough to get a lot of money for the production. This album is a little bit special on both points - first of all this album was released not so long after Dave Mustaine's departure from Metallica so, this is not an album with songs composed over five years or something like that. And about the production... I heard rumours that the band spent most of the money they got for the recording on sex, drugs and booze, which resulted in a sound a bit too raw for my taste. Of course, old school Bay Area Thrash should sound not like Enya, but there is a limit after which even my ears start to hurt. It's not the worst thing that was ever recorded, but it takes some points away from an album that is actually very good.

Dave Mustaine, as all know him, was not born 48 years ago in La Mesa California. Dave Mustaine was born in 1983 when he was betrayed by his closest friends and cast from their ranks. He went and recruited warriors for his cause so that vengence could be had. Upon the release of this debut album it would seem Dave was out for blood. Indeed, killing became his business, and business was good.

Finally, with the "Final Kill" version of Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good!, we get some mixes that allow the music to shine through. This album has such complexities that previous mixes never managed to do justice. Killing Is My Business... blends technicality, heaviness and a jazzy approach to produce a near concise classic. The songs are strong, and sadly overlooked when it comes to 'Deth's back catalog.

There's no doubt if "Dave Mustaine" in Metallica remains talent went to waste.

This album is weak, seriously. The production is terrible and Dave vocals are not that good here ... The songs are probably good, but the performance is not good enough to make me forget that awful production. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Megadeth fan ... at least after this album and except for piece of sh*t Risk. But this album is very weak IMO.

Am i the only one, who thinks that this album is their 3rd best. The Energy in this album is overwhelming and i cant get enough of Songs like "The Skull beneath the Skin" or "Last Rites/Loved to Death. I also love the underproduced and raw production, really.

I'd have to agree. It's a good album. The songs are well written, but not when compared to later albums. It could have been so much more if the production were better. Still, it's a great first effort from one of metals finest.

Probably your listening direction was wrong.
This album is very much stressing on their impecable guitar's techniques and skills, which is unlike Metallica's superficial melodic approach. A masterpiece !

1) Terrible vocals ? No way ! Dave's vocals at his best, only declined on Youthanasia, became harsh may be due to excessive smoking
(By far Youthanasia still can be considered as a good album)

2) There's one thing I am not sure, the innerlays show Dave and Chris both are Lead Guitarist, but who was really playing the main role at that time remains unknown.

May be Marcel can answer the second question as he has a Master Degree in Metal.

Found this mediocre at first listen and nothing spectacular or even worth spinning again. And what the fuck with that censored bleeping on These boots, some annoying shit. Will try to respin it sometime again but it will be very hard to bring myself to that.

That is not the case on the original pressing of the album.
And even later on on reissues the song was removed from the album due to legal hassles.

The remastered version which was released during the early 2000's was a good remix. It was amazing after listening to the early CD version with poor production. The new version "The Final Kill" is even better. "Rattlehead", the title song, "Last Rites/Loved to Deth", and "Chosen Ones" are some of the best thrash metal songs of all-time.

The remix from this year improves the sound in this album, my only complain was on These Boots which Dave re-recorded his vocals.

This album and Peace Sells (I refuse to mention to last part of that stupid album) are their worst albums and even their worst lineup. All of the songs on this albums disturb me. The least bad song is the Mechanix. These Boots is offensive, Loved to D and K-ing is my Business are violent songs that could make you go insane. At least Loved to D starts off with the piano. As for the title track, I prefer a title like Spreading Peace is my Business and Business is Good. Skull Beneath the Skin scares me and disturbs me. Rattlehead is an evil song where they use the Lord's name in vain, Chosen Ones leads me to believe that Dave Mustaine has evil intentions to cause worldwide chaos, Looking Down the C portrays Jesus as vengeful. Jesus never wanted revenge. He felt sorry for the people. Anyways, you should avoid this evil satanist album and listen to love songs and songs that glorify God.

Glam is pointless and gay.

Glam is pure and godly and hetero. Thrash sings about worshiping Satan and K-ing people. They should sing love songs, like these glam songs.
