For those who don't have their new album... You can hear 4 new songs at the band's MySpace.

Southern Storm is AMAZING. their previous stuff somehow sounded boring derivative death metal for me, and their new album is not original at all, but encloses a truly rotten atmosphere, coherent violence and a very good songwriting. Years had passed since the last time a new death metal album interested me that much... I will begin to get some of their older discs now to see what happens.
I'm seeing Krisiun live tomorrow, they play with two of my favourite Chilean brutal death metal bands, Totten Korps and Denying Nazarene, so it promises to be a memorable concert.

I'm thinking about getting Southern Storm, i don't think it'll be as great as you say though. I've listened to a few tracks and they're good but nothing special, depends what else i see in the record store.

What is me, I was stunned since the first time I listened to the opening track "Slaying Steel".

It's really not as good as AssassiNation, but it's still fucking brutal. I keep on going to the CD store to buy it, but those fuckers never have it in stock, despite already having an open slot. >:(

I guess i could risk buying it, i'm not afraid that it will suck by any means, i'm sure it will be good but nothing worth praise. Empty slots are frustrating, i saw the Decrepit Birth tag a few weeks ago with no records i just finally ordered their new cd off unqiue leader, it's probably going to take forever.

Ok so i decided to buy Southern Storm yesterday. This album is good in some ways and bad in other ways.
I really like the agressive sound, the overall atmosphere (high pitched notes in the background, while the other guitar is chugging), the blistering solos and the drums are quite awesome as well.
What Krisiun is bad at is variation and i'm not usually picky about that. In the album they use the same chord structures over and over again. They also love the guitar chugging, but that's sort of mandatory for their sound.
Anyways i can easily see myself going fucking nuts to this material live.

A very nice band. I usually don't like this kind of death metal, but I really like Krisiun. AssassiNation was an awesome album. I've never got the chance to listen to Southern Storm, but I'm looking foreward to it.

I have listened the new album, ''Southern Storm'', now for a few times, and I must say that this staff is realy one great effort. Amazing blast and probably my favourite death metal album this year...
I am already looking forward to their upcoming show with Unleashed in our country.

LOL srsly...I saw them play before Behemoth and Morbid Angel, and Krisiun out-played both of them, and Morbid Angel only played songs from their first four albums with David Vincent. There were slight sound problems for the two latter bands, but those three dudes in Krisiun blew everyone away and put on one of the best performances I've ever seen. It was so good that I didn't even want to mosh, just stare in awe with my mouth open.

Well, now I am even more looking forward to their concert I hope that it will be something like you have described it.

I got AssassiNation for "the Christmas" and its a totally KILLER album. It never seems to let up the intensity. Next is, Southern Storm and maybe after that Conquerors of Armageddon. How is that album anyway? (Conquerors)

I didn't really like Southern Storm, but it's okay. I think AssassiNation is my favourite and then probably Conquerors or Works of Carnage.
Live is where Krisiun reign supreme
I agree... the bestg death metal concert I had assisted to (after Morbid Angel in their first gig with Vincent back) was Krisiun's show this year.

Yeah "Live Armageddon", their songs were weak, not like when you hear them in albums, they need a rhythm guitarist to help them while playin live IMO.

But meh, another concert I won't be going to. I'll just blast Conquerors of Armageddon again.
