I honestly hope he is just very successful at trolling. I find him hilarious with the language he uses in his reviews and stuff, but I also get why no one wants to be roasted by their peers
I love the work Frederik Hermansson from Pain of Salvation provided. His melodies covered a wide range of moods, going from happy and delicate, to sad and brooding, to climatic and cathartic, he covered it all. He's also quite technical as well with his keyboard solos. It's too bad he left the band though.

Ordinary men hate solitude. But the Master makes use of it, embracing his aloneness, realizing he is one with the whole universe (Lao Tzu).
Probably either Mustis, Stian Aarstad or Rowan London.

Oleg Smirnoff (ex-Vision Divine), Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), Jens Johansson (Stratovarius), and Richard Andersson (Time Requiem). Andersson is a real beast in the keyboards!
Mustis. He's done the keys, piano and snything with DB and his haunting stage presence is probably the only thing I ever liked watching DB live (for me they are one of the worst live bands ever). His work on PEM is simply incredible and he was also involved in the composing process, so that's a double thumbs up. I miss Mustis :'(

Yeah. I also like Cradle of Filth, Children Of Bodom, Dimmu Borgir, Faith No More and other bands that use them. But most of the stuff I like is down to basics - vocalist, 1-2 guitars, bass guitar and drums - as God himself intended it.
To be fair I don't mind them in moderate doses and most importantly done well. And they should generally never override the guitars IMO.
A lot of modern stuff is infested with heavy generic keyboards usage. I don't like that. And it seems it's now expected that Melodic DM or Power Metal bands have keyboards.
If I'm being honest I didn't expect a valid response to that, but I really appreciate it. I'm actually of nearly the same state of mind, although I may appreciate keyboard usage more as I play the keyboard, and am totally for breaking the "basics" band setup (as you stated in your comment)
Vitalij Kupriji (Artension) and Kevin Codfert (Adagio) come to mind. Vitalij in particular is a touring classical pianist. Saw him live with Trans-Siberian and he just all of a sudden broke into a Chopin Etude like it was nothing.
A defining feature of metal is guitars. So can a band with no guitars still be a metal band?
Botanist. No guitars, regular or bass.
