Disclaimer: this review might be long (and so is the album) but I couldn't do without the context and other explanations. If you don't care about reading this slab of a review, just go and buy the album straight away.

You may not have heard of French band Kalisia before but they've been among the most praised act here since they released the demo Skies about 15 years ago. I, myself, have discovered the demo back in 2003 I think, and was so blown by this progressive and somewhat death metal music that I was eager for more, for a full length. Back then Cybion was already in the works so everyone was expecting a release sometime soon...

Amazing thing. Lyrics are nice. guitar riffs, drumming especially and growls are excellent. Keyboarder rules. I listen to it on my PC using headphones. I can hear multichannel sound with multiple effects as 5.1 This album must be listen by everybody who likes long compositions. Not very heavy music but in Part C i hear black/death metal But comfortable to listen to it. Recently i didn't like black or death metal, but Kalisia did it that what i wanna to listen to.

Despite being overtly pretentious and over the top, I still enjoy this album. Appeals to all the metal sides of me.

This is a good album, lots of fantastic sounds and great tracks. The only problem I'm having is within these good moments, there some boring and very repetitive ones. It could be to do with the amount of tracks and the length of the album.
On the whole, a worthy album.

392 votes for this, only 8 for their massively superior demo 'Skies'.

This song is included on the new album's 2nd disc too the whole demo is in fact, so its literally like 2 in 1, therefore better

That sounds awesome, I just recently listened to Cybion and thoroughly enjoyed it. Will definitely check out their demo if its that good.

The 2nd bonus disc certainly is great stuff too (and so the demo must be)...but i value the complexity of Cybion's story and all the "space-themes" sfx features more

Far too symphonic and joyful (major chords...damn them) for my tastes.

Plus, how could this possibly be album of the year with albums such as Tall Poppy Syndrome and Stone's Reach?

It was meant as a reply to the other members who stated the album was the best or among the best of the year.

I tried to get into this album, gave it many spins because I like sci-fi themes and heard this was influenced by Ayreon. But it just doesn't work for me. The album is complex and mixes many genres and vocal styles, but it leads to the problem that I only like some parts, and not full songs. There is not a single song I like entirely. Some good melodies here and there, but they don't get repeated, there are no choruses, nothing to help the listener to get into the album.
And I can't stand the main vocals, either get a better growler or use mostly clean vocals (but then it wouldn't be death metal...).

This album gets better and better with and every spin I make. Love the concept behind it as well, totally a sucker for futuristic-themed albums such as this.
On a side note; Section C blows me away every damn time.
