If you're one of our regular contributors you probably have noticed that it sometimes takes painfully long to get your edit checked. That is because we're pretty overwhelmed by the number of edits we get - and, as you might imagine, going through them is not exactly the most exciting job in the world.

To lighten our burden somewhat, there are now two additional permissions, which allow their holders to submit or edit band-related stuff without involving Staff members:

Permission: Submit band-related info without Staff check

- Granted upon reaching 350 Community points
- Allows submitting new albums, videos, bandmembers, lyrics and so on
- Allows to edit your own items (anything you were the last submitter/editor of)
- Doesn't allow to add bands, band styles or trivia
- Doesn't allow to edit other people's items, delete items or accept/reject edits

Permission: Edit band-related info without Staff check

- Granted upon reaching 1200 Community points
- Allows to edit albums, videos, bandmembers, lyrics and so on, including those submitted by other people
- Allows to add/edit styles for invisible bands
- Doesn't allow to edit Trivia
- Doesn't allow to delete items or accept/reject edits

Permission: Submit events without Staff check

- Granted upon reaching 500 Community points
- Allows to add new events, but not tours
- Allows to edit own events (the ones you added yourself)

Permission: Edit events without Staff check

- Granted upon reaching 1000 Community points
- Allows to edit events added by others


Trivia is excluded because it would benefit from some proofreading and filtering, and we don't receive that many trivia edits anyway. Adding bands is still off-limits, we try not to clutter our database too much.

If you got one of the permissions, congratulations. You will still receive points for your edits, but make sure you don't abuse this fact. If you have any questions concerning your new privileges, contact one of the Staff members. If you encounter any bugs, please post here or send me a PM.

looks great its be easyer do eddits for bands, and line ups etc what I like realy good idea thank's Ivan but its be long time since i will use to not coppy and paste source of info for eddits lol

Sweet, this will definitely expedite the process of error correction in band info.

But, it kinda stinks that all the errors I know of already have edits submitted.

This is really good.. I was kinda disappointed about waiting for approval but now I can do submit albums and members immediately.. It's seriously cool to do with no need to approval.. I like to be able to do as such on news.. Maybe I'll do in future if I try to be a staff.

Yeah, it was a joke. I'm not alone when I say handing over a good amount of control over to the regular users makes us nervous. It's not absurdity's we're worried about, but rather sloppiness (people making grammatical errors in their edits, making the place look like shit).

So don't let us down guys! Double check everything!

Be careful when you add demos and just generally obscure releases too. A lot of them can be bootlegs or just non-proper releases. Check official websites!

Yeah...

Like f.e. Metallica only released two OFFICIAL demos, Bathory never released a demo and neither did Celtic Frost, no matter what sites such as Metal-Archives say.

Nice feature, and seems like it will be good for the web. I think that someone with 350 community points knows how the staff works, so, I hope they won't make a bad move with this.

Guys with the new perms, please re-read the related FAQ and all the notes related to your intended edits, and if you are still not sure of a submission PM any of the staff/elite.

Together with Bararey we have found following sort of a bug:

now when i am editing something which still needs staff's check (namely album, but i suspect other things as well), i dont see "source" input anymore, there is only "comments on changes" field...this is very logical for new additions, you dont need check for them, but what about editing?...i thought good, i dont need to fill in sources anymore, while i am "trustworthy", but Bararey still wants me to do so...

so i am reporting this situation here and its upon Ivan to decide what now with it...of course, I can technically fill sources into "comments on changes" field, but when there is (was) independent input for it...

It's complicated, there are two different functions for those who have permissions and those who don't. Please just use the comments field.

Listing the correct source once is always a good thing IMO. If Led Zeppelin did that I might like them more.

Correction: editing styles is now only allowed for invisible bands, sorry.
