A pair of empty eyes, on a face absent of any trace of...life? This is the image that comes to my mind as the first chord of Dunkelheit is picked, and persists, with different variations, throughout this jewel. An incomplete, and yet, mature and developed album, Filosofem must be the Count's deepest creation. Most of its charm comes from the way it has been recorded. The universe, perfectly balanced as Thanos would want it. I immediately liked Thanos in Infinity War and it was the first time I had heard of him or seen him; can't wait for the End Game come April. I now no longer agree with Thanos that the universe should be perfectly balanced; excess and scarcity are what make life worth living. I really don't have any respect for Varg but, by the black metal gods, this is an eerie and beautiful album.

I'm still attempting to make sense of the second half of this album. The first 3 songs are near perfect but the other 3 are, pardon my Norwegian, ar-piercars-ar-shirter.

I like the tune, but don't want to listen to it for more than 7 minutes, say. I might see the merit in track 4 if it weren't followed by 2 clusterfucks. Give me drums! I've always thought of this as two albums. A double-feature. The first is Vertigo and the second is Big Momma's House.

If I could change the album... I would have the first 4 tracks unchanged, the fifth would be 10 minutes and the last one wouldn't exist. There we got a nice 41 minutes album, fair enough for me.

This could very well be my favorite Burzum album. It has imo the best production and the best vocals by faaaaaar. I really like how the vocals sound here thanks to the production.

First track is simply a classic BM anthem, second one is blood-pumping and addictive as heroin, Third track shows more of that slightly melancholic vibe Burzum has at times and the fourth one is downright sinister. You should definitely stop fucking around and give the full (read: first 4 tracks) a go without stop.

Have to agree with the Jesus Tod riff/drums coming in.... it's one of those special moments in metal that you can't even describe with words given the amount of awesomeness it emanates. If only Rundgang... was 4 or 5 minutes long, this would be perfect. It's still my favorite Burzum with Det Som Engang Var

Epic album, you can hear its influences everywhere. Rundgang..... is indeed far too long, get a few minutes in and skip it, love the instrumental stuff on the rest of the album tho. the production on this is perfect for the sound, almost to the extent of being just as haunting as the actual music.

Mayhem, Satyricon, Marduk and even Det Som Engang Var from count himself. But this album is just bad, in every way imo. I definetely wouldn't count this among traditionally sounding BM albums.

Fuck, all Varg had to do was cut out Gebrechlichkeit II and this album would probably be my favourite black metal album. The droning room filling tone of the guitars is just incredible. The pad synth on Dunkelheit is too eerie as well. Drumming is so simple but so effective.

This would have been a solid 9 for me if Rundgang was kept around 7 mins and serve as an intermission for "Gebrechlichkeit I" which should have been the last track (and the second part, as you say... couldn't be deleted alltogether). That would have left us with around 40 mins of one hell of an album.
