Which metal genre you despise the most

So, the reason I joined this forum is because the people seem to be tolerant towards more 'alternative' types and fusions of metal genre, even though the extreme metal is probably most popular kind on this forum. Even so, some of the genres (like the top three) usually take a lot of crap/dislike from one reason or another, it doesn't really matter. So, as tolerant and open minded as we all are, we all have some artists/genres we generally don't like, or truly hate.

So, what's your black sheep of the metal family? (and please no crap about 'not metal'). I can respect and tolerate almost anything, but I guess I dislike Black metal the most (and Pornogrind, if you can call it a genre), but there's really no purpose putting poll for it in this forum. Why do I dislike it? I hardly even gave it a try, but it sounds so soulless and empty to me. That's just my subjective opinion of course.

And yours?

Kvelertak?

Turns out it was pretty good.

Let's not forget about the Legend EP from Abigail Williams...

I hate fake metal, like Shadows Fall and Carnal Forge and Darkane.

How is any of this "fake metal", I could kind of see where one might get that impression from Shadows Fall but Carnal Forge and Darkane are Deathrash, how is that in any way "fake metal" (whatever the fuck that is...)?

Shoegaze. Sounds and looks like a heavier Emo.
Not a fan of Folk either. Ugh, that stuff is 31 flavors of boring.

I used to not like Shoegaze but it grew on me. try Deafheaven

I don't listen to too much folk, but I find it intersting enough, I mean Mandolin + distortion = oodles of fun.

Any of that "post-hardcore" or "emo-core" or whatever they are calling it these days...I just can't stand those over-processed guitar fills! Makes the temples in my head want to explode.

What the...

How in the frozen hell do you think a highly atmospheric genre which builds on layered guitar textures and vague, blurred melodies is anything remotely similiar to a subgenre of hardcore punk which is often quite chaotic, raw and straight to the point, essentially a direct opposite of what shoegaze is.

Similiar much?

I hate genres; the words "Genre" and "Generic" have the same root by the way, and dealing in "genres" of music is simply a shortcut to thinking. Someone's bound to say something like it makes life easier to be able to refer to music you're talking about without describing it in detail, to which I can only reply: Exactly my point.

Nah, I don't really. In truth it's anything that's labelled with the prefix "emo" or suffix "core".

So we should group Cannibal Corpse, Britney Spears, and Luciano Pavarotti in the same category without further separating them?

And I hate when people group Rites and Fugazi in with "emo." Makes me sick.

Well that is original emo.

Emo = emocore = emotive/emotional hardcore which is exactly what those RoS-era bands were. Which is a pretty stupid term I agree as post-hardcore would probably be an ok way to describe it. But fact still is, those kind of bands is what emo is. NOT the nowadays so prevailent whiny alt-rock crap.

And I posted it because they are not similiar at all, so dunno why does the poster I quoted think that shoegaze is 'heaveier emo'.

Shoegaze is not even similiar to what nowadays is being called emo.

That's the correct genre right there.

Just like Joy Division is post punk, not goth.

How can you guys hate nu metal? Does your favorite metal genre have masked singers? can your favorite band's drummer play in beer cans? Can they rap and play guitar at same time? Does the band play on MTV? Of course not

Nu metal requires real talent, not all those Death Metal bands that have the same sound, how original.

I dont want to live in this planet anymore.

I think I'll have to go with "other" and vote for post-metal. I don't know why but that sound irritates me to all hell. It's like they took sludge and somehow made it emo. Terrible...just...terrible. My instincts told me to pick nu-metal, but I don't really hate it. I feel sorry for it, like somebody's retarded little brother who has to wear a bicycle helmet everywhere he goes.
