I would like to open this topic to the noise/ambient genre, feel free to recommend bands. To begin with, I'll list a small summary of some of the genres which I think come under this category.

Death Industrial
Noise (I would argue traditional noise is quite alien from the more black noise works of Abruptum for example)
Black Noise
Power Electronics
Dark ambient
Ritual Ambient
Feel free to add more if you wish. Here are some bands I can recommend.

Black Seas of Infinity: Death Industrial/ritual noise project from the US.

Kaniba: A favorite of mine, minimalist ritual ambient formerly known as Terrorgoat of Finland

Raison d'etre: Dark ambient, all ive heard of them is the outro they did for Abyssic Hate's fulllength but I should have something of theirs in the near future.

Ugegi Aoiveae a Ser: Minimalist, kind of 'magical' dark ambient, Ive only heard one song, and that was from the split with Black Seas of Infinity/Kaniba, but it showed excellent promise.

Emit: Quite closely related to the blackmetal scene in comparison with the others, electronic black noise, quite frightening while still retaining some similarities to other, more blackmetal based projects.

At this stage the only distro I can recommend for purchasing some of the more obscure material on the list is Autumn Wind Productions, but I would like to hear some more sites which specialise in this field.

Try Deathprod if you're looking for some really good dark ambient.
It's a project from Helge Sten from Norway. He also contributed to some other Jazz/Avant-Garde orientated bands.

If you're interested, I recommend 'Morals and Dogma'. It's very good and atmospheric, really scary too.

A really good dark ambience band from Colombia, Funeral Dusk. I really recommend it, here's the profile in myspace, there you can hear some song samples

I suppose no one has mentioned Ophelia's Dream yet. I would classify them as "dark mediaeval ambient", but for sure K7 or any other genre expert would tell a better classification. What I like the most of O'sD is the (female) vocals, really sweet but powerful.

@ The Alchemist: I've heard the samples in the myspace profile and the orchestration is really brilliant. I also like this gothic atmosphere he creates.

Ophelia's Dream is indeed great (in fact one of my favorite artists of all time), but the most prominent aspect of their music is IMO classical/neoclassical or whatever you'd call it. Sure they have this "ambient essence" just like some (dark) ambient bands have. By that I mean that while their music is mostly based on melodies and classical music they have a very strong and central soundscape which might indeed appeal to ambient fans.

What I'm saying is that while it may not be the usual choice for ambient fans it gets my strong recommendations too.

I just found out about Sleep Research Facility and tried the newest album "Deep Frieze." Possibly the best piece of non-musical dark ambient I have ever heard. Highly recommended.

Here's a quote describing the album:
Ultra deep, glacial Dark Ambient, based around Antarctic co-ordinates. The polar regions are awe-inspiring environments of inhospitable minimalism, and at the same time there's a beautiful serenity to be found in their uncharted bleakness. There's a powerful purity and a timelessness to be found there; snow which has lain un-trampled for millennia and ice which formed eons ago; mountain ranges and deserts and rivers to be found if you look. 'Deep Frieze' is SRF's second album for Cold Spring and here deep, resonant, abyss-like drones shine forth from icy chasms below.

After reading that I just had to get it, and it was worth it.

Abortion Void, a great Dark Ambient band I discovered on soundclick, has some very creepy stuff. You can listen or download 3 songs here:http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pageartist.cfm?bandID=549685 do listen to Cold Cemeterial Shroud of Geliophobia, it's a masterpiece.

PS: If anyone knows of any other bands(or people I should say) that sound like this, please tell me.

Has anybody mentioned Coil here? well, I went through the previous pages CTRL+Fing and didn't find any mention so here it goes: when I think about dark ambient, ritualistic or noise music, I can't help but think about Coil: they've been all over these genres. They themselves described their music as "magickal". From the eerie and nocturnal Musick to the Play in the Dark volumes I and II to the cosmic Astral Disaster to the the mystical Moon's Milk in Four Phases to the machine-like and noisy Constant Shallowness Leads to Evil to the dark Worship the Glitch to the melodic Ape of Naplesand more. Granted, I'm no specialist in the genre, my wife knows a lot more about industrial and ambient music than I do, but Coil is her personal favorite, and, as for me, it's a band whose sound has been growing on me for the past few months. Not only is their music fantastic, but they make countless references to authors such as Shakespeare, William Blake, Aleister Crowley, George Russel (A.E.) and more. A must listen!

I've been meaning to look into these guys as well at some point, I think they're related to Throbbing Gristle.

If I haven't mentioned Niellerade Falibilishtorstar already, they're great dark ambient from Sweden with members from Woods of Infinity.

A good Dark Ambient band (from around my area, good local band) ISOLATED EMPIRE http://www.myspace.com/isolatedempireuk it's free of predetermined ideology and left religious advocating, music to make your own mind up to, very dark, bleak and grim (it would appeal to BM fans a little more due to general BM atmosphere it creates) and Gnosis has worked with FURZE (on the track Sathanas Megalomania) a must if you like really dark atmospheres

There are a lot of subgenres listed in the starting post, but to me most of that will probably sound like either Dark Ambient or Noise.
I really don't know what Death Industrial sounds like.
So if the guy who listed them can describe each of those subgenres a little bit and their differences that would be appreciated.

Looked it up, but that's about Industrial Death Metal.
Since this thread is located in General Music I suppose this isn't really about any form of metal.
I know what ambient generally sounds like, I suppose it can contain guitars, but I haven't heard any kind of ambient music with guitars yet.

Most Ambient is nice to listen but bores me quite fast. There are exceptions though, like Deathprod.

About noise, I've heard some of that and I think it's the best name of any genre in the world to describe what it sounds like.
Not really something for me, although I do like chaotic and experimental stuff.

[add]
Oh, I read about different styles of noise music in the starting post! There's 'noise' and 'black noise'. Now that makes me curious!
Can someone give me examples of some common noise 'song' and a black noise one?

I can hardly differentiate between dark ambient and death industrial. The one constant I did notice in bands dubbed as death industrial is the frequent use of low pitched, crawling mechanical noises. Structurally it seems pretty similar to the more minimalistic dark ambient bands.

Describing black noise accurately can be a tough one, it seems to be used largely as a blanket term for black metal with noise elements and noise with black metal elements alike. Abruptum, Emit, Beherit (Messe Des Morts only) and WOLD would be a few bands that could be described as such but are all quite different from one another.
