Well this is a fantastic game that i really enjoy playing, this thread is to discuss the game, no comments about how Morrowind is better etc, see it everywhere and i dont care.

I FINALLY cured vampirism, took a week because i had to collect 40 flowers just to clear my name from the Mages Guild. Then talk to the head guy.

This game was terrible in almost every way. There was just so much wrong with it that I don't really know where to begin.

Only plus is that you could mod the hell out of it in order to make it playable. That was a small plus, and you actually got a semi-decent game after downloading tons and tons of unofficial mods that fixed some of the more acute problems. Still had lots of issues though.

Unmodded I think it's one of the worst pieces of shit that's been passed off as an RPG ever made.

Have you played Two Worlds? Now that's a piece of shit.

Have you played Arcania: Gothic 4? Now THAT is a piece of shit.

No, and I don't plan to.

So I'm thinking of getng the game cuz it's super cheap now and it looks interesting (I know I'm very late on jumping on the TES wagon) but I've never played the series [and I'm really not that big of an RPG gamer] and don't have XBOX and hate gaming on a PC so I can't play Morrowind [which seems to be a crowd favorite] but I would like to check out the series and don't really want to spend money on Skyrim without first checking out the series for a cheaper price. So my question here is how does the first person to third person thing work, is it any good? I've never played an action/adventure style game in first person and the concept seems kind of ridiculous to me, I love FPSs and those make sense but the idea of sword fighting and casting spells FP style seems like it would be awkward and ridiculous. If I end up not liking the FP perspective can I change to the TP perspective and play that way, and does it work smoothly or does it suck balls in TP cuz the game was designed to be played in FP?

The third person perspective is a dog to play with if you ask me, and the character's movement looks stupid. The combat is little more than mouse clicking, there's practically zero strategy involved apart from stealth attacks. You should get a 360 controller with the official blutooth thing, then you can play the vast majority of PC games with a controller. Much more enjoyable. Morrowind is definitely the better game though.

Lol, I just realized I forgot to mention I would be getting it on PS3 is the reason why I'm going with Oblivion instead of Morrowind. I actually went on ahead and got it cuz my local GameStop had it used for $10 so I figure if I end up not getting too into it then I didn't waste a lot of money on it. So far I'm digging it but I really hate that when I put the cursor on an enemy it doesn't tell me their level so I have no clue if I'm about to get my ass handed to me or not. The third person view is pretty gay but it does make horseriding a little easier. The first person aspect isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, the thing I really miss most from other "medievil" adventure titles in the 3rd person (like Prince of Persia for example) is I can't dash/roll/backflip out of the way in battle.

The enemies level with you. You never become higher or lower leveled than the enemies so the battles are always "equal" - it is the biggest complaint, along with the backwards leveling system, of Oblivion. Also applies to stuff like stealing abd looting; you can't go out in the world and find yourself the strongest sword in the game at the start, the have to wait till you're at the appropriate level before you can encounter it. Unlike Morrowind.

Oh wow. That blows, I've been kind of wondering why none of my battles get any easier. Man I wonder if they're going to do that with Skyrim, I sure hope not...

Apparently with Skyrim the enemies you meet in each area are the same level as you but remain that level throughout the rest of the game. Sounds like a poor compromise but it may be more in depth than that.

That sounds like Borderlands enemy leveling system and I was very satisfied with that idea in Borderlands. The last rpg I played was Fable 1 [unless you actually count Borderlands as an rpg, lol] and that game was awesome and there were the different levels just like in Borderlands so if I encountered someone stronger I could just go do some side quests or kill random baddys in a "weaker region" and then come back stronger and beat the bigger baddy's ass. Skyrim definitely does look a lot prettier and more realistic than Oblivion that's for sure.

It's a good game but with stuff that makes it annoying (enemy level, unkillable special chars, bugs, etc...). The thing I liked most was just running around the world doing random quests and killing everything in sight... I also hate when you have bounty on your head and every guard in every city runs after you even if you commited a single murder on the other side of the map...

I might pick up Skyrim if it has less flaws.

Duuuude hell yes that shit pisses me off!!! It's like how the fuck is an Imperial City guard supposed to know that I killed an Imperial Forester in the middle of fucking no where far north of Kvatch?!?! The lack of enemy level display is very annoying too cuz I never know when I'm in an impossible situation; like in the Ayleid ruins when there's like half a dozen of those screaming banshee ghosts that use burden spells, whenever I run into those damn things I always just have to hope that either I can run fast enough or my Wabbajack doesn't let me down. Right now I'm running around searching for abandoned mines and campsites that have marauders/thieves/vampires hiding out so I can slaughter them and pillage their corpses to build up my Mercantile and get rich. And I actually have a question [for anybody/everybody really, not just you specifically] does the Vampire Cure mission and/or the Knights of the Nine DLC require you to get cured of vampirism to complete the quests? I'm hoping not cuz I honestly really love being a vampire, the hunger always seems to kick in at the most opportune moments when I could use a lil extra boost in all my stats. Also if I do have to get cured of the vampirism or if for some reason I do ever decide I want to be cured can you get bitten again, like by Vincente?

I completed knights of the nine as a vampire character (and a mage if I remember correctly lol) all it requires is that you are well behaved... you go on the pilgrimage to clear yourself of any foul deeds you have committed, then you are free to do the quest, but if you murder, steal etc you will have to do the pilgrimage again, Feeding as a vampire doesnt count as a bad deed so you should not have problems.

Also if you are cured for Vampirism you can NEVER BECOME A VAMPIRE AGAIN on that character, You can catch the disease but you can never be turned.

The vampire cure quest gives you a shit load of gold and a cure Vampirism potion, But its up to you if you want to drink it. you dont have to cure yourself.

Ok kool. That's what I figured was the deal for those 2 quests especially the cure quest but the Knights kinda threw me off cuz it said "cleanse your self of sin" and of course most [if not all] religious sects view vampires as pure evil so I was kinda worried the vampirism would prevent me from completeing that quest. Well that's def good to know I will not be forced to give up the vampirism cuz I'm enjoying it, alot, lol. I don't really understand why anyone would want to give that up, especially since you can still walk around in daylight. I am curious about something else, what happens with the Grey Prince if you complete his quest? I forgot he asked me to do the quest until after I already challenged him and I didn't think it would not allow me to complete that quest if I told him to forget about it. I went and got/read the diary so I assume he is the one who turned me into a vampire but does he admit he already knew he was a vampire and that he turned you or does he pretend to be surprised to find out daddy was a vampire and then just rejoice about finally having proof that he a prince? I remember when I accepted the quest from him he said if I complete the quest he will share something with me...

You may have already completed the quest by now but ill say it anyway, If you complete the quest the grey prince becomes all depressed and when you fight in the arena he wont attack you back, Unfortunately poor game design counts this as a murder so dont bother doing it if your going for knights of the nine.

A while ago, I was doing the main story and at one moment, I had to enter the portal Martin summons with the 3 daedric artefacts. I don't know what I did, but it turned out that I went outside before he gave me the order to enter the portal (or I can't remember). Then I go back inside the room and there is no portal, just martin saying to hurry up coz there is only one chance to enter !

So.... am I stuck... forever ? (in the main story that is)

So I had this genius idea that I decided to try out and it's f'ing hilarious and pretty evil. Enchant a full outfit with Chameleon spells [and Grand Soul Gems] to be completely invisible without having to use potions or spells. It's so brutal I almost feel bad using it sometimes but it's not cheating because the game allows it. Works great for killng [or just avoiding] those pesky Wraiths and Dread Zombies that usually litter the Ayleid ruins.

It's not a cheat, but it's an exploit, which is almost as bad. You're so burning in hell for that.

Although, I remember I had a custom-made Spell that reduced the target's resistance to Shock by about 800% or so for 5 seconds. Because of the short duration, it was pretty cheap Mana-wise. So I put a Shock enchantment on my sword and combined it with the Spell... I was flying through the realms of Oblivion at level 28 at almost max difficulty.

Well If I'm going to burn in hell for that then I'll see you there sir, lmao. Yea I killed someone I didn't realize was a member of the mages guild so now I'm trying to get back in and when I do I'm planning on making my Daedric armor suit 100% magic resistant...

I'm trying to complete the Vampire Cure quest and I have the bloodgrass x2 but the lady isn't recognizing that I have it; so am I missing something or is my game maybe glitched for that mission? And what exactly do I have to do to get that damn Mace of Zenithar? That quest is pissing me off cuz it keeps telling me to continue on and do the other quests to get more clues for how to get the Mace but I completed all those other quests before going after the Mace so there's nothing else for me to do to get more freakin clues...
