1996 was a good year for Metal Music, Behemoth released their album Grom, Arch Enemy released "Black Earth", Cannibal Corpse found that George Fisher was better than Chris Barnes and released "Vile", Mortician, after 7 years of demos and EPs, finally released their first Full Length album and called it "Hacked Up For Barbecue", and a little Canadian Band Called Cryptopsy Released a great album called "None So Vile".

Death metal. The musical genre concerned with death, hatred and anguish. The aural paragon of blood, gore and mutilation. Ever since it was created about 20 years ago, death metal left nothing nasty undealt with; from the repulsive scenery of gory violence to the deepest of mental aberrations, it covered pretty much everything vile, both musically and lyrically, with death being the recurring theme. Not all bands though were able to convey the actual horror of death, but some wrote albums that redefined death in an aural way. One of these records is Cryptopsy's None So Vile.

Yes. The vocals are useless here. I listened to it as if it was an instrumental and there was someone barking in the background. Everything else is great. The drums are br00tal, the solos are intricate and beautiful and the riffs are mind crushing. And also, Lichmistress really sucked.

What should I say and I didn't understand ONE SINGLE WORD from the beginning of the album till it's end?? I must admit that Lord Worm is a really bad vocalist. With all my respect, these are the worst vocals I heard since I got to metal. Well, I know some BDM so I'm not new into this style. I've heard Dying Fetus's Destroy The Opposition and I think the vocals there are much better than here. The music, however, is on the same level. Concerning Lord Worm: If you want to hear some good MEANINGFUL growling vocals then check out Amon Amarth's Johan Hegg or Opeth's Mikael Akerfeldt. Man, even Chris Barnes on TOTM is WAY better than this Worm dude!

Well that's your opinion, Am not a Lord Worm fan but i respect him, and love many of his vocal parts, even though i hate some parts, but IMO he is btter than the dude from AA, and better than Chris Barnes.

While he's not my favorite part (especially on this album, as the instrumentation is otherworldly), he's got a unique brutal death metal voice. This is how BDM growling is supposed to be done.

Lord Worm is a legend. He epitomises the concept that vocals in a band like this should become part of the sound itself, rather than conveying pointless lyrics.

I more or less agree with the other two. Lord Worm isn't too great at all. IMO, the most overrated vocalist in death metal together with Chuck Schuldiner

The only time the vocals annoyed me was on the first track, otherwise they were typical growls to me. Cliched above all else, but the rest makes up for it quite nicely.

Just listen to it again, and don't listen closely. Use it as almost background noise. It'll start to grow on you.

Honestly I wouldn't listen to Boxcar's advice... If you think you need to listen to this again, listen to it seriously, not as background music. The jazz influence and complex riffing is some of the best in all of bdm, and even though LW is a love or hate vocalist, this album is pretty much exactly what brutal death should sound like.

If you don't like it, you don't like it - no big deal. But if you don't like brutal death metal at all then it's not a surprise if you can't get into this, being that it's one of the genre's pioneering albums (along with Suffocation and Dying Fetus).
