Anyone into this extraordinary Melodic Death Metal band? (I said Melodic DEATH Metal, NOT Gothemburg)...

I got their two albums (Galloping Through The Battle Ruins and Incorrigible Bigotry) and fuck, they're amazing... this band has some of the best riffing in Death Metal, the vocals are awesome, and the whole atmosphere is incredibly strong yet blisful...

If anyone care about this, they have highly racist lyrics specially in Incorrigible Bigotry, but I really recommend you to not let that prevent you from listening to Arghoslent, because they are truly awesome.

I remember a thread about them on the old MS. Could you perhaps post a website or something like that, as I wasn't caught to much back then to keep their stuff.. please?

Yes they are a very entertaining band, minus their lyrics. I recently noticed a similarity between Arghoslent's sound and Farmakon's last album.

Almost a year since I posted this. Update: Album recording should be finished now with a new vocalist. Demo compilation out late '07/early '08.

I just bought 'The Imperial Clans' tape on ebay.

Some weeks ago my friend asked for something to download cos she was bored, I suggested Arghos cos I had read somewhere that they were tech death. She found Bigotry and sent me the title, instrumental track... I was thoroughly disappointed. Does the rest of the album have such mediocre riffs?

Yes it does. At first listen it is all nice and dandy but because of the mediocre generic riffs it gets old after the second listen already. Good music to play in the background at parties though.

mmm GENERIC? there are people who don't actually like Arghoslent riffs, they find them misplaced, mediocre or whatever, but you certainly can't call them generic... I like them... a lot

This band amazingly made cheesy riffs sound not cheesy, quite an achievement hahaha.

Indeed a nice album. Btw I find my previous post funny here. Cause now I enjoy Arghoslent's music quite a bit. excpet for their most recent ep though. That one is lacking in all sorts of departments.

Didn't even realise they released another EP of late. I'll stay away from it then. Hornets is a good solid slice of easy-listening death metal.

Exactly what it is, yes. It's more or less pop, if you ask me.

If it's the case, it's the best pop in the world.

Finally got "Galloping Through The Battle Ruins" released by Wood Nymph!
Before I had a CD-r without lyrics.
I heard they gonna come with something new in 2011, lookinf forward to it.

If this band weren't racist they would probably be massive. The music on its own is really good but obviously their lyrics and beliefs have relegated them to cult status.

So I was reading an interview with the band from 2008, and I found this:

'But do not think for a moment that this implies a belief that if one is born white, one is superior. On the contrary, this country knows its current unenviable position because the whites here are so pathetic. Our scholastic performance is below average, our president is a cowboy buffoon, the value of the dollar is laughable, we are in a recession, culture is a foreign concept, foreign policy is an afterthought, we throw billions of dollars at fighting an immortal and intangible concept in the Middle East, and all this as the country is run by whites that were elected by whites. White power? I think not. In fact, the best thing for this country would be for a certain non-white Democratic candidate to win the presidency (and yes, to point out the obvious, he is a very impressive, accomplished man, not the 'simian abomination' referenced above; people should be more discerning when interpreting blanket statements; a country full of men like him would be a far worthier country than one crammed full of corpulent white trash rednecks). But all this just makes for less interesting song material, hence the focus on historical intrigues.'

^Not surprising. I bet most "NS" bands just write their lyrics to sound politically incorrect, when in reality they think totally the opposite.

They are actually very hateful. In the same interview:

'In layman's terms, whites are responsible for the pathetic state of affairs, to such a degree that even a half-black presidential candidate is seen with optimism around the country and the world. Have no doubt in your mind that by having a white mother, he's should not be considered black and that his apparent success, as mentioned by my conspirator Holocausto, would not have been achieved had both his parents been Kenyan immigrants'.

They don't really sound racist going by those statements. Just ultra cynical, and perhaps even a little pragmatic.

Their lyrics are smartly written and can be construed as intelligent criticism, but their website showed without a shadow of doubt that they were racist. The website isn't up anymore, so it's hard to verify what I'm saying.

Stupid views aside, Arghoslent's music was top notch, especially on Incorrigible Bigotry and Hornets of the Pogrom. If it hadn't been for their racism, they'd have become much more famous. Oh well.

The band posted the following update in their official website.

"Pogrom, Holocausto, and Ulfhedinn are working on new music and lyrics, and have been for a few years. The band will enter the studio once the time is right (quality material & logistics)."

While we wait for the new album, we can always listen to what I can consider the spiritual successor of Arghoslent's style. This band from Australia follows the same steps from Arghoslent but including doomy elements in their music. The lyrics deal with the tragedies of World War I like Those Once Loyal from Bolt Thrower, not a bit of racism or prejudice, So you can listen to this without feeling guilty.

Listened to them a bit, they are good, but not good enough to look past their racist views that they express through their music. Just having good riffs doesn't make you an irreplaceable band. Though to be fair that's my opinion of death metal in general, it's very hard to find a death metal band that stands out.

Such a good EP. It's gonna be 10 years since their last recorded material. We need more MDM bullying.
