Children Of Bodom - New Song Online

"Was It Worth It?", the brand-new single from Children Of Bodom has been made available for streaming, over at Facebook.

In order to get access to the stream you'll have to let everybody know you're into Children Of Bodom by "liking" them on Facebook (Ha ha! /Nelson), or just wait till some smartass uploads the whole thing on YouTube (a rough radio version is already available here).

"Was It Worth It?" comes off the band's upcoming new album Relentless Reckless Forever, which will be released on March 8th through Universal Music.

The solo just doesn't suit the song at all.

Isn't it what happens in tons of songs? I understand that some people pay attention to guitar solos and enjoy this kind of thing but I see guitar solos more as a nuisance to atmosphere, flow and consistency. Most of the time, I think is doesn't bring more to a song but bring it down instead.

They say we'll be your friends we'll stick with you till the end
But everybody's only looking out for themselves
And you say who can you trust I'll tell you nobody

That's arguable. Not untrue but arguable. If you listen to someone like Chuck Schuldiner, his solos always add to the song. I would say that it's about 50/50. Most artists and bands and what-not do solos either because they feel they "have to" or because they want to show off. A good solo builds up a song the same way a vocal line does. The solo in Was It Worth It (I believe) was one they felt they "had to do". I cringe when the solo comes up.

Some solos are indeed enjoyable and emotional but too many times they feel as pointless wankery to me. It's not that I can't appreciate a well-done guitar solo but I'm not fond of them in general. However, usually, it's not annoyance but something I don't really notice or pay attention to because I don't really care.
And, to tell the truth, most music I'm listening to nowadays doesn't feature guitar solos at all or very few of them.
As far as I can remember, I've never been someone who pays attention to guitar solos.
