Lots of metal Heads feel that this genre has
nothing to offer, that it is unintelegent and
without feeling, that it's all about smokin'
joints and gang wars.
But others may realize that rap and metal
arn't so different after all. Just look at
How Public Enemy Did a Song with Anthrax,
It's simple, both metal and rap can tend to have
rebelious and politically themed music. (punk to actually)
They both can indicate Drug problems and spiritual
Awareness.
For me, Rap is my favorite Genre of Music second
only to metal (Of Course!) Because I feel, well......
Pretty much the same as how I explained on the previous
Paragraph. It's intelligent, Political and for the most part
rebellious music. It also sounds good to me, If it's a good
M.C., the words flow like water with the Beat in the background.
So, what about you, is it stupid to you?
Do just not like the Sound?
Or maby you Love the sound,
and hey, do you relate to it?

I only ever listened to about a dozen songs of theirs. But from what I remember they were actually really awesome. I always thought they were a one-hit wonder but their back catalog is filled with some great beats.

I think they started as a punk band and became a rap group in new york later. But their style is definitly more old school. All about the DJ and passing the mic after a few bars, just trading off through a song. Not really full verse rhyming like alot of 90's hip hop.

Well, I would also like to share the artist "Honey Singh"- a punjabi rapper who lived in UK for 10 years and was rapping in English. But, when he came to India, he started rapping in "Punjabi" language. I don't know much about him,more importantly, he is a local hero out here.

I like old 80's/90's hip-hop/rap y'know the golden age of hip-hop, like RUN-DMC or beastie boys. now as for modern day groups: yelawolf (i listen to animal every day..need i say more?) eminem (yeah sue me why don't you?) Cage (underground artist) aesop rock (again underground) SOME! kanye west (:erm:) SOME! dr dre (c'mon he nearly started the game) as for psychopathic records: boondox (southern rapper) icp (hey i like their violent verses) dark lotus (an icp supergroup which is AMAZING!) im ashamed to like these groups..but i can't help it! D: there music is so..so inspiring i guess. it pumps me up,

Guys I need recommendation for all hip hop/rap artists in 1990s and 2000s, I'm very new to the genre and feel lost of where to go, please if you know recommend me good sites about rap. Currently I know: Eminem, T.I, Young Jezzy, Lecrea, Three 6 Mafia, 50 Cents,Roy Jones, DMX, Lil Wayne, thats all. I've spent the last hour reading the first two pages of this thread and reading about rap on Wikipedia and it is too damn much for me to rap my head around.  How about some starting rap suggestions for a guy with little to no knowledge of hip-hop whatsover? I'm starting with stuff from the "golden age" like Public Enemy and De La Soul.
