I was tired of Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer and Megadeth polls about Thrash metal. So I decided to learn about people's opinion on
other early thrash metal bands. Obviously I forgot some but I placed OTHER so everyone should be happy Just tell me which one you prefer and why
and don't forget to vote. I don't wanna hear anyone saying (my favorite is so metallica) please just don't include the big four. lol

My personal favorite would be Exodus even after the change in the vocals back in the day, they remain my favorite thrash metal band, because they're brutal, constant and they never forgot their old thrash metal sound. My favorite album is (obviously) Bonded By Blood. Also, a little 2010 recomendation would be Exhibit B, cause its simply awesome ! Can't wait for their next piece of art

Your turn to give me ur opinion

Poll

Which Early Thrash Metal Band Do You Prefer (Apart from the big four)

Kreator
30
Testament
29
Other
27
Exodus
17
Sodom
14
Overkill
12
Artillery
4
Destruction
3
Heathen

Is Pantera really that small of a band so it isn't even listed? Ooh well, they get my vote.

I hate to be one of those genre nerds, but Pantera isn't a thrash band. The closest they ever were to thrash was Power Metal, but generally they were either 80's heavy metal or groove metal.-which is similar to, but different than thrash. They had some thrash songs, but never a full thrash album.

I love Sepultura and Kreator, but the best early thrash metal band is Celtic Frost. Tom G Warrior is a genious, Martin Eric Ain probably my favourite bass player and Morbid Tales, To Mega Therion and Into the Pandemonium are releases I'll never get tired of.

No sweat. I was just suprised they wasn't in the poll, since they are one of the most popular Trash Metal band in MS.

Yea, that was my thought too and they are definitely not Power Metal. In general alot of the music genres intertwine and in my opinion they are most definitely Trash although alot of other bands might be consider to be more "pure" in the Trash Metal genre.

By Power Metal, the other guy meant the album, not the genre.

I don't listen to too much of Meshuggah, but I like the way Cautiva sounds. I'm really tempted to buy the LP instead of download it to support him, but I haven't the money at the moment.

It says "early" thrash band, and Pantera wasn't around till late 80's if you count their cheesy stuff, or 90's when they really go going.

Pantera are what is called Groove Metal or Post-Thrash. Which are subgenre's of Thrash. They basically invented the style by adding a lot of groove to Thrash Metal. Cowboys from Hell is a mix of Thrash and Power Metal. It could almost be called Power Thrash but also the grooviness starts on that album.

My vote will always be Testament. I think they are better than any of the "BIG FOUR" although Megadeth comes in a close second.
