Keller - Spreading Evil CD (Thrash Metal)
100% top notch killer Thrash Metal in the old vein! Forget the new trendies playing modern pseudo Thrash, THIS IS THE REAL DEAL!!! Sounding not a day removed from 1987 (and we mean that in a good way!) and coming straight at you with a savage shredding attack, these Slovenian boys are setting the new standard for the Thrash resurgence. Highly recommended for all the old school thrash fanatics who have worn out their vintage Kreator, Dark Angel, and Megadeth cassettes!

Kriticos - Dead Angels CD (Death Metal)
Edmonton, Alta.'s Kriticos, featuring Cyn Mercredi's guttural growls and earth-shaking screams at centre stage. The four-piece female fronted act has have been working hard to spread the word to both the existing legions and potential fans who only need lend an ear. Recorded at Blood Thicker Music in their hometown of Edmonton, Alta., Dead Angels asserts eight tracks of unstoppable energy and auditory force from the very first listen. At once catchy and aggressive, Kriticos delivers a high-quality collection of in-your-fee-ace death thrash riffs, and a solid first effort that rivals most veterans of the studio.

Andras - Warlord CD (Viking Metal)
Many fans of ANDRAS have waited for this with desire: one of the very first Pagan Black Metal-hordes from Germany at all with their newest musical Heathen Metal hammer strike! A high-quality release in the purest & timeless way and comes with great painted cover-artwork & finest layout! Matured by many years of diligence and determination, ANDRAS present themselves as experienced Epic Pagan Metallers just like on their already grandiose predecessor album ...Iron Way. Limited Digi CD + DVD version also available

Lugubre - Supreme Ritual Genocide CD (Black Metal)
Newest skull crushing album from Netherlands Black Metallers Lugubre. A total Black Metal assault with lots of speed, darkness and definitely alcohol! Nine tracks in total, enough at the end to deliver a message of absolute misanthropy and urge for mankind's destruction. The music is primitive, with its lingering malice and unpolished sound. All a perfect combination when ones talks of and listens to Black Metal.

Thorngoth - Leere CD (Black Metal)
Originality - it's a nice thing to have, but far from mandatory. Some bands take their inspiration from the greats and pay homage in a memorable and skillful manner. Some bands take it a step further and add their own special ingredient, and here we have an example of such a thing. Germany's Thorngoth take the foundation laid down by the greats and then add their own spark to give life to deliver a solid slab of Black Metal with occasional epic qualities. Thorngoth have dropped upon the earth a heavy and evil album that frequently delivers epic riffs and harrowing atmosphere. Fans of German Black Metal should already own a copy of this.

Aquila - Imperium CD (Metalcore)
AQUILA is both furious and melodic; the listener might be able to catch the wide-ranging musical influences buried within the unique metal groove that surfaces from their tracks. Machine gun rhythms, intense guitar work and the catalyst: death metal vocals were all brought to the forefront of the audible threshold to result in a face punching listening experience.

Hellhound - Hellhound 7" (Punk/Hardcore)
A full-on package of crust, modern hardcore and power violence mixed into one. Sinister and brutal riffage followed by speedy, yet heavy drumming has made this record a must have in the north eastern American hardcore scene. Recorded by Bridge Nine's own Jason Maas of Defeater, excellent yet raw production quality has yielded no opposition to the ears of the listener. This release comes with exclusive digital download cards for those without record players.

Suburban Showdown - Warvictims Split 7" (Punk/Hardcore)
Brutal pair of two up-and-coming discore bands from different parts of the world. Side A's Suburban Showdown comes in with a well-recorded set of four tight tracks focusing lyrically on the destruction of mankind via government spying, video cameras, and public ignorance. Musically along the lines of Disfear with different structures, standard tuning, and an influence of grind. Warvictims, hailing from Sweden, deliver 3 war cries in a traditional d-beat style recorded in a distorted, primitive tone. Musically of Disclose with deeper vocals.

Necrophobic - The Nocturnal Silence CD (Black Metal)
There are classic albums and there are cult albums. "The Nocturnal Silence" is both, one of the best early statements of the Swedish death metal uprising of the early to mid 90s. Though the album has been remastered, it still sounds great in its original form. There is nothing overly polished about it, it simply manages to retain a dark intonation that many death metal albums only wish they could have. So often we forget what the pure evil of this genre used to sound like, jaded from endless overdubbed albums with focus on technical precision to the detriment of atmosphere. The Nocturnal Silence remains a true relic of extreme Swedish metal. Recommended if You Like: ENTOMBED, SLAYER, GRAVE, DISMEMBER, OBITUARY, AMON AMARTH, UNLEASHED

Necrophobic - Darkside CD (Black Metal)
After releasing the stunning debut "The Nocturnal Silence" that took the metal world by storm all eyes were upon Necrophobic. There was an uneasy silence, bridged with a single featuring a new track "Spawned by Evil", complete with some cool cover songs. David Parland (aka Blackmoon) was busy with Dark Funeral but returned albeit briefly, to contribute to the Necrophobic cause. Parland was not to stay with Necrophobic but musically speaking it was a nicely crafted piece of melodic and aggressive black-death that he contributed a lot too. Packed with trademark Necrophobic aggression it remains a mystery why this band appeared to fall off the radar after their critically acclaimed
debut. In the ROCKHARD TOP 25 of ALL TIME BLACK METAL CLASSICS, ESSENTIAL RECORD!!!

Wolvserpent - Gathering Strengths - Blood Seed 2CD (Black Doom Metal)
Previously known as Pussygutt, the duo of blackened psychedelic dronemetallers from Boise, Idaho changed their name to the much more ominous sounding Wolvserpent in 2010. The name is the really the only thing that changed, as the occult hypno-doom and grim, folk-stained nightmares that populated their previous albums are all intact here. This double disc from Crucial Blast collects both the Gathering Strengths Lp (Olde English Spelling Bee) and Blood Seed Lp (20 Buck Spin), both of which were previously available only on limited edition vinyl. The material has been remastered for this format, and comes in an eight-panel digipack that features both the original album artwork as well as new imagery that further compliments Wolvserpent's avant-garde witch-sludge.

Gnaw Their Tongues - L'arrivee de la Terne Mort Triomphante CD (Doom Metal)
One of the extreme metal/industrial underground's most unique bands, Gnaw Their Tongues arises again with a new album of majestic, orchestral death-terror called L'arrivée de la Terne Mort Triomphante, a series of five hymns to the death shroud, a celebration of dissolution. This Dutch one-man avant black/doom/industrial band is responsible for two of the most chilling albums of abstract heaviness to have been released in recent years (An Epiphanic Vomiting Of Blood and All The Grand agnificence Of Perversity, both from Crucial Blast), but with this new full-length, Gnaw Their Tongues peels back additional layers of it's bombastic horror to reveal moments of euphoric beauty more than we've heard on the previous albums.

Gnaw Their Tongues - All The Dread Magnifience Of Perversity CD (Black Metal)
This new album picks up where last year's An Epiphanic Vomiting Of Blood left off, this time with even more fearsome orchestral chaos and a noxious bass-assault slithering through these nine tracks of sadistic, depraved filth. Hyper-abstract black metal? Orchestral-powered avant doom? Gnaw Their Tongues continues to defy easy categorization and plunges even deeper into a black pit of cinematic horror, sexual perversion, and shapeless heaviosity. We've packaged this album in a deluxe heavyweight Stoughton tip-on gatefold jacket just like the sort that we used for the CD release of Epiphanic, and it includes a six-panel full color booklet - both the gatefold jacket and the booklet feature artwork by Gnaw Their Tongues mastermind Mories, and his artwork just gets more and more insane with each new release.

Garoted - Evil Personified MCD (Death Metal)
Anti-religious, bestial and evil Death Metal. With a DEICIDE cover. Very promising band, support!

Infernum - Taur-Nu-Fuin CD (Black Metal)
Re-issue of the long-out-of-print 1995 album. INFERNUM, whose line-up included Rob Darken (of GRAVELAND) and Capricornus (of THOR'S HAMMER and CAPRICORNUS), was one of the most promising and well-respected Polish Black Metal hordes, back in those dark, incendiary 1990s. Along with VELES and GRAVELAND, this album sits at the apex of that period and style. The album is offers truly obscure Black Metal with evil (somewhat overwhelming) keyboards and a profound mysterious atmosphere,
combined with an extremist ideology - a testament to the true believer.

Arghoslent - Arsenal Of Glory CD (Death Metal)
Arsenal of Glory was an early demo released by the band in 1996, recorded April 20th of the same year. The complete demo is included here along with six live recordings from July 18 1998 in Virginia. Originally released in 1999 with a different tracklist, this is the 2007 digipack re-release.

SUMMER SALE STILL ON NOW, BUT OVER SEPT 22: BUY 2 GET 1 NHR RECORDS RELEASE FREE!!

Nadja - Desire In Uneasiness CD (Doom/Sludge Metal)
Desire In Uneasiness is an album of all new material from the acclaimed Canadian dreamsludge weavers Nadja. Five colossal jams of eternally-fuzzy, ethereal dirge that are powered by the interlocking bass guitars of Leah Buckareff and Aidan Baker, who set loose a wave of monstrous grinding bass riffs amidst a fog of beautiful, swirling electronic effects. Desire also marks the first Nadja album to feature a live drummer in place of the drum machine programming that has driven the band's previous recordings, and the difference in the band's sound is apparent from the first crushing beats of album opener 'Disambiguation'. The organic drumming here takes Nadja's music into new realms of spacious jazzy exploration, dubby rhythms and cavernous psychedelia, while also delivering some of the band's most grooving, crushing hypno-bliss yet. Desire also stands out from the rest of the Nadja catalog for it's bizarre artwork that Aidan commisioned from his friend The Reverend Aitor.

Forest - Like a Blaze Above the Ashes CD (Black Metal)
Legendary raw Black Metal band from Russia, which truly achieved the levels of coldness and darkness only underdreamt by Norse BM masters of 90's. Freezing melodism meets haunting trancelike obscurity of endless russian forests at night. Re-release with proper and enchanced artwork.

Forest - As a Song in the Harvest of Grief CD (Black Metal)
Musically what we have here is an hour-long album of slow, grim and repetitive old-school black metal executed in a similar way to other Blazebirth Hall bands, mostly Raven Dark and Branikald. This is inspired by Burzum's work, although there's a solid difference as this is much grimmer and less accessible. What is probably the biggest influence by Burzum is the hypnotic effect caused by the entire album. Kaldrad has managed to create something much more evil though.

Forest - Foredooming the Hope for Eternity CD (Black Metal)
Forest's music overall, on this album can be described as an inspirational mix between the raw black metal of Darkthrone with a certain Burzum twist to it, so as to add some atmosphere, but the atmospheric part is in no way dependent on any use of keyboards or other such instruments at all. This is pure raw black metal, the fuzzy guitar sound being present from beginning to end, evoking the dark coldness of the Russian winter spread across endless landscapes of forests in the night. This lasts for an hour with little actual changes and seemingly no variation outside the first and last songs, although it's excellent to listen to, the music itself being of supreme quality.

Skogen - Svitjod CD (Black Metal)
Swedish atmospheric Black Metal second album in the best vein of DRUDKH, ULVER, PRIMORDIAL. Inspiring journey through the mighty northern forest shaped in excellent solo melodies with great nature sympho background, pure classic acoustic parts, clean and grim vocals. Skogen essentially comes out of the blue with an excellent atmospheric black metal record. With 'Svitjod' this Swedish duo brings nothing new to the table but they make up for that with strong compositions that wholeheartedly deserve the label epic. The mostly long songs unravel themselves at predominantly mid-paced speeds but boredom is avoided through strong riffs, tension arches and very beautiful lead guitars. One could imagine the latter as a subdued Windir of Cor Scorpii with an even more pronounced sense of longing and melancholy. Skogen also have their folk influences, as exhibited by acoustic guitar parts offering the needed diversity.

Trees - Lights Bane CD (Doom Metal)
The debut album from the Portland quartet Trees delivers two epic tracks of monolithic, blackened doom metal with a twisted, noise-damaged approach and a dank basement vibe. Trees craft glacial abstract riffs and rivers of ashen amplifier goo that fans of feedback-laden heaviosity will find highly satisfying, a kind of grinding, slow-motion black hole psychedelia that has a similiar hypnotic death-ritual quality as artists like Bloody Panda and Khanate, but with their own unique trance state of swirling guitar textures, horrific jet black dronescapes and ghoulish, excoriating vocals. Features members of the PDX psych-sludge outfit Tecumseh (Important Records). This CD edition of the TREE's debut comes in a Stoughton printed 4-panel gatefold case.

Ehnahre - Taming The Cannibals Digi CD (Black Doom)
The new full length (number two) from the Boston based avant-black/death/doom band Ehnahre, Taming The Cannibals, is one of the more cerebral and challenging "death metal" albums to have come through the Crucial Blast headquarters this year. After being turned on to their excellent debut from 2008 The Man Closing Up, I've been itching to hear more from these warped death abstractionists; their debut instantly dazed me with its jarring, alien approach to bestial slow-motion death metal, drawing heavily from the twelve-tone serialism of composer Arnold Schoenberg and the outer fringes of free-jazz and free improvisation as much as they do from the foul black pit of early 90's death metal and doom.

Trees - Freed Of This Flesh Digi CD (Doom Metal)
The mysterious Portland ensemble Trees return with their second offering on Crucial Blast, Freed Of This Flesh, with two new fetid death rituals scraped from the crypt. Each of these tracks averages around fourteen minutes, an extended death-rattle formed from black glacial riffs suspended in space, tectonic percussive rumbles, anguished shrieks of torment and abject suffering, deep guttural demon-toad throat singing, and endless sheets of glistening metallic feedback that spill and drift to the far edges of their extreme time-stretched ambient doom, a crumbling, blighted majesty, noxious ambient blackdoom adrift on putrescent tides.

Andras - Warlord CD
Many fans of ANDRAS have waited for this with desire: one of the very first Pagan Black Metal-hordes from Germany at all with their newest musical Heathen Metal hammer strike! A high-quality release in the purest & timeless way and comes with great painted cover-artwork & finest layout! Matured by many years of diligence and determination, ANDRAS present themselves as experienced Epic Pagan Metallers just like on their already grandiose predecessor album ...Iron Way. Also Available in Digi CD, with DVD.

Finsterforst - Urwerk 2 Digi CD
Nobody can accuse these musically unerring Viking Folk Metal woodmen from the German black forest empire of being short-lived trend followers. Far from it. The electrifying album ?Zum Tode Hin, released in 2009, had quite a lot to offer. Now these fierce hit melody composers and bark eaters pile the fire up: the current bombastic album successor Urwerk proves the nature loving seven-piece horde to be extremely proficient musicians. The mixture of styles offered by the audibly extremely talented septet has now found itself in the exact intersection of virtues known from Ensiferum, Moonsorrow and Finsterforst themselves.

Thrudvangar - Durch Blut und Eis CD
German pagan metal institution THRUDVANGAR return wit h a new opus. With a well-balanced mixture of dignified keyboard pathos, raging aggression and mystic acoustic parts the Saxonian boys present us their catchy tunes of battles and myths, which should not disappoint any disciple of the newer pagan wave. In this very overcrowded genre it is really not easy to stand out but these warriors from Thor's empire nevertheless manage to do so. Not by bubbling inventiveness or groundbreaking originality, but by perfectly employing all the ingredients, which make a pagan meal spicy. Folky melodies are not just an end to themselves but they are being used as an effective stylistic means just like sporadic narrative passages and German lyrics.

Nomans Land - Farnord CD
Powerful and mighty Epic Viking Metal from Russia. Farnord is a mighty manifesto of unappeasable ardency, and is full of timeless, beautiful Viking Metal hits, all of which go right under your skin!!

Alkonost - On the Wings of the Call CD
Alkonost, a band that comes from Russia playing Pagan Metal. The reality is that the band is much more interesting than that, and this is rather obvious from the first couple of minutes. Mixing brutal male with operatic female vocals is the first intriguing thing that one might notice. This mixture works well throughout the whole album, and fits perfectly with the atmosphere of the music. The band sings in Russian and English, another thing that gives a rather unique taste to the listener, and adds points to the whole result.

ABOUT: Soulstorm was formed in May of 1991 by Nick Sagias (Bass/Vocals) and David Mitchell (Guitar). Nick Sagias had just disbanded his previous band Overthrow and played in Holland's Pestilence before realizing he needed to do something new and exciting. Soulstorm were one of the early underground pioneers in a wave of death metal with industrial overtones, sounding like a cross between Godflesh, Swans, Obituary and Celtic Frost. The duo quickly recruited John Sagias (Drums) and Rick K. (Guitar) to round out a live touring line up.
As the band gathered steam, they recorded what would be their first bit of exposure, the "Control" demo (Epidemic, 1991). Four crushing songs, sounding like no other, quickly established the band as a force in the extreme metal music scene. John Sagias decided to leave the band and move in a different musical direction and was replaced by drummer Patrick Harquail. It was at this point in time that Soulstorm was ready to release a full-length debut CD that came in the form of the highly acclaimed "Darkness Visible" (Metal Blade/Music For Nations/Epidemic) CD in 1992. Soulstorm then released their first video for the song "Disruption", which was directed by Andrew Hunt (Sweet Karma) and was nominated for a Much Music Video Award for Best Metal Video in 1993. Many impressive live shows followed such as opening for Entombed, KMFDM, Cannibal Corpse, Grave, U.S.S.A., Malhavoc, Suffocation, Clutch, Cancer, Massacre and Milwaukee Metalfest '93 as well as touring the United States and Canada with Sacrifice, Thought Industry and Genitorturers.
After Dave took a leave from the band in late 1993, Nick took a new approach and re-invented the bands sound with a new touring line-up, touring across Canada with Juno award winners Monster Voodoo Machine and releasing a second full length CD, "From Euphoria To Paranoia" (Cargo, 1994). After taking 1996 off, the "F.E.T.P." line-up got back together, stripped down the sound of the band and released the "Under The Killing Sun" CD to a limited run of 1000 copies.
At the end of December 1999, Soulstorm called it quits and Nick Sagias put music on hold for the next 5 years, recording only once during that time with drummer Patrick Harquail. On and off from 2006 to 2011, Nick started laying down the foundations of what was to be Soulstorm's 3rd full-length CD until 2011 when David Mitchell reconnected with Sagias and work properly began on CD number 3. This 3rd NEW Soulstorm release is now scheduled for release in 2012, as well as a number of tour dates throughout North America. Toronto date coming very soon!!
Stay tuned.

We at NHR Records have worked diligently over the years to adjust to the shrinking markets and we would like to thank everyone for their support over the 8 years we were in business. Unfortunately however, our operations have been affected harder than most with the decrease in volumes and general market softness in recent years. We have done everything that we can to sustain our business, but have come to the point where no other course of action was possible.
We are officially closing our business down June 29, 2012.

Again, we would like to thank all the bands and labels we have been in contact with or partnered with over the years. We would like to also expecally thank our customers past and present for all their support! With out you there would not have been a label.
