Schizophrenia - a serious mental illness in which someone's thoughts and feelings are not based on what is really happening around them - a really nasty one but Sepultura's album is even nastier! It's easy to figure out why this album is called like this - it's just sickly fast and brutal! While recording this album Sepultura wasn't really known outside of Brazil - they weren't even known inside their own country - but this album made them famous all over Brazil, though it wasn't originally released outside of the beautiful country where dancing and having fun never ends. This album was an great impact - real Sepultura's career has begun with it.

Why did this album become so popular? That's easy! It's a great album and it contains everything what you would expect from a thrash metal band! Music is really extremely fast! I think that Igor Cavallera plays drums even faster than Dave Lombardo! He hits the drums with such power that sometimes it feels like blowing your brain into space! He's done there a really great job. But what would be a metal album without some great solos? It wouldn't be a metal album - but Schizophrenia has some really extreme solos! Just listen to "To The Wall" and "Troops Of Doom" - these tracks contain some unforgettable solos! They're fast as hell!

Max Cavallera's voice fits just perfect to the music - it's something between death and thrash vocals. Fortunately there is no screaming on this album - it just wouldn't fit to the lyrics which are a real masterpiece - just read "Troops Of Doom" lyrics - a great apocalyptic vision!
These album is a real thrill for all thrash metal fans! It has everything what a metalhead needs. With track like "From The Past Comes The Storms" and "Rest In Pain" this is a perfect album for every thrash fan. And if you're a instrumentals fan there is another good news for you - there is a composition called "Inquisition Symphony" - a great and fast one! Even Apocalytpica coverd it - but the original version is a lot better.

As I'm getting near the end - you have no choice! This album is a "must have" for every extreme metal fan - if you haven't heard it yet and consider yourself as a thrash fan you're just a poser. So what are you waiting for? March to a music store or Troops of Doom gonna' get you!

Sepultura's Schizophrenia! One of my top three favorite Sepultura album. It is the second LP album released in 1987. Mix of death metal and thrash metal!

I still prefere Arise, but it's stupid to compare those albums.
I bought Schizophrenia in '90 I think and what a revelation it was!
In those days we didn't care about production. We wanted our metal straight-forward and that's just what this album is. One of their best.

It´s a great piece of Thrash Metal, from start to finish. Early Sepultura at it´s best, and the most popular álbums were yet to come, but this one, was the one that started it all. Songs like "From the Past Comes the Storm", "To the Wall", "Inquisition Symphony", "R.I.P. (Rest In Pain)" and "Troops of Doom" are absolute killers. But the whole record is amazing, one of the best from the band, for sure.
