Unfortunately the era of Bonded By Blood, Pleasure To Kill, and Agent Orange is long gone, but luckily Testament took a stab at nostalgia with their newest album Dark Roots Of Earth. And while The Formation Of Damnation, their 2008 release after an almost 9 year hiatus, was definitely a step into the right direction, it was a bit too modern sounding, and I actually didn't care for Chuck Billy's vocals on it.

I've been playing both songs quite a bit and im loving both of them! Right now im liking 'Native Blood' more than 'True American Hate' but both are absolutely killer. I'm hoping the rest of the album will be at least as good if not better. Seeing them at Bloodstock in a few weeks so pretty excited to see what new stuff they'll put into the set.

Just heard it in its entirety for the third time and I totally agree with you, this one makes the previous one seem like a masterpiece (and that one was already immensely average)

Haven't heard the entire thing yet, and I don't really think I will. Previous one was ok, but what I've heard of this one is really boring.

Brace yourselves, Testament fan boys overrating this album are coming ...

DRoE lacks lot of aggression that was presented tFoD ... its a good listenable album in general, but when you compare it to other Testament albums, it fails .. I was so much looking for this to be thrash album of the year, now it looks like it barely can be called thrash

Metal nerds rejoice, for the Powerslave cover is not horrible!

Solid album overall, not gonna blow anybody away, but it's a good listen. Not disappointed in the slightest.

Played it through a couple of times now. Was expecting a little more but overall is still a great album and worth the wait. The cover of Powerslave was pretty sweet.

I love the album now after a few listens, but it's definitely a grower, and most of the songs didn't blow me away when I first heard them. It's defintely better than TFOD which was a great album, but also dragged at times. There's not a lot of thrash on the album, so people hoping there was going to be a lot of that, will certainly be disappointed. But I love the Ritual, which is more commercial and less thrash than Dark Roots, so I don't have a problem with that. It's not a great thrash album, but it is a great heavy metal album.

Rise Up however, could have came off The New Order, that one's a great thrasher!

@Cynic: A user bashing another user for giving a different opinion on an album? Wow, that's a rarity around here, and no mistake.

mmyeeaah...this coming from the man with probably the least credibility in the history of the internet with regard to metal music (per reviews)...It was not a nice comment that he made, yet you have bolstered his arguement simply by disagreeing. fail
