This thread is dedicated to the 80's Thrash metal scene, primarily underdog groups. This thread isn't meant to decide who the greatest thrash group was or is. Just to talk about bands you are interested in,what albums you consider to be classics, and so forth.A very unnapreciated group with one of THE greatest thrash albums ever released is Dark Angel,"Darkness Descends" was an instant favorite when I heard the opening riff for the first song. One other group I really enjoy is from the late 80's,went by the name of Evildead, they were among the few that had originality in their music at the time, they weren't just another Thrash group.I have only heard their debut "Annihilation Of Civilization",but "Underworld" is also a classic from what i've heard.Viking,Sacred Reich, Whiplash, and Exciter also kick ass.

Yeah, they're both from my area, Seattle. BTW, As Above So Below is finally available - it was re-released not too long ago by some label. That album is a little too inconsistent though :/

You never heard Whiplash? They were quite big back in the day, their first three albums were released by Roadrunner/Roadracer and were quite well received back then.

I have always enjoyed those three albums immensely. Power & Pain being by far their rawest, but a lot more melody creeps in with Ticket To Mayhem and Insult To Injury. Those two are by far their best imo. If I remember correctly their drummer Tony Scaglioni helped out Slayeron a tour just after Lombardo left the band.

Most distros will probably still carry Whiplash cause the early three or so were re-released last year and this year.

Displeased has them (although they are expensive shipping to the US)
