26.07.2008 - 14:44 Written by Bad English on 26.07.2008 at 14:41 Warbringer are NOT Italian they are American and they sound like a cross between US thrash and German thrash and sound nothing like Bathory whatsoever.

Also available is an outside project that some of the band members did recently called Cruel April, which was never released formally.

29.09.2008 - 19:15 Written by Marcel Hubregtse on 23.09.2008 at 16:00 Recently picked up Sadus' first album, Illusions (re-released under the name Chemical Exposure), and have to agree with this recommendation. The speed and the vocal style give it a proto-Death feel, but what really sets this one apart are the buzz-saw bass parts that play real tight with the guitar riffs. Truly worth checking out.

I saw Warbringer last night. I was really surprised. Their live show was awesome. They were a killer opener and made the headliner (Overkill) have to work for their money...Of course Overkill killed. Awesome show.

Lately I've been playing As Above, So Below by Forced Entry, which is sadly out of print. They're a thrash metal band from Seattle, but they have the bay area sound because, from my understanding, many musicians moved to and from the bay area to Seattle, and vice versa during the early nineties and late eighties. I guess there was some sort of "Pop Sound" label that fucked over a bunch of bands during that time, causing Forced Entry to break up after only two albums and one EP. I also heard that people thought they would be the next Metallica, but I'm pretty sure that's just speculation Tony Benjamin, their bassist/vocalist, also played in Anthrax for a bit.

Another band thats got kind of forgotten about is some of the earlier works of Voivod. RRRoar,War and Pain, Killing Technology(my favorite) and Dimension Hatross are very good albums. A very jazzy thrash metal and takes some time getting used to. Killing Technology would be where I would start. That is a great album. Sepultura's Schizophrenia is also good. Hallow's Eve,Dead Horse,Cro-Mags "best Wishes",DRI "Crossover" are a few more. I saw Forced Entry in Nashville open for Obituary and Sacred Reich. Was a very good show. Had a blast!!

There was a band called Sacrilege (not to be confused with Sacrilege BC) that released 3 albums in the 80's. The first two, 'Behind the Realms of Madness' (1985) and 'Within the Prophecy' (1987) were great Thrash Metal offerings with hardcore/punk elements (relative to that time period) and both were reissued as one 2-album set in the mid/late 1990's. Well worth checking out. They were a British band, and had a female vocalist who sort of spoke/shouted, sounding kind of aggressive but in a feminine way, if that makes any sense.. Their third and final album was 'Turn Back Trilobite' in 1989, and apparently that was more Doom Metal orientated, but unfortunately I haven't heard that one.
