Recorded at different times during the months of July, August and October 2008 at The Jam Room in Columbia, SC.
Produced by Phillip Cope.
Head engineers: Steve Slavich and Jay Matheson.
Assistant engineers: Zac Thomas, Phillip Cope and Carl McGinley.
Mastered by Dave Harris at Studio B Mastering.
Artwork and layout by John Dyer Baizley.
All music by Coper, Pleasants, McGinley, except for "Insomnia for Months" (by Hernandez).
All lyrics by Cope, Pleasants.

a nice raging slab, Static Tensions retains a more raw sludge approach when compared to their fellow Georgians Baroness' and Mastodon's 2009 releases. Some great riffs, two drummers drumming, and harsh shouted male throat work balanced with some pleasant female vocals make for a compelling and enjoyable listen.

First half of the album, apart from the opener is pretty shite. It starts to pick up again at running red.

In my humble opinion this album would be better with other vocalist than this one!

This album got old for me the first spin. It's not bad, but I got the whole "Why should I listen to this when there's better bands out there?"

I'm closer to the statement: "I must listen to this because there's no better bands out there...so skillfully combining psychedelia and sludge".

Ya, Kylesa are pretty great at what they do. Lit. just never has anything positive to say about anything on here.

I would love to know the names of the better bands, because if they're just as good as this, I'm interested.

In terms of psychedelic sludge SubRosa and Bloody Panda are the only Kylesa-toppers I can think of, but then they all sound a bit different to Kylesa anyway.

Yeah it's not exactly the same thing really. Wouldn't say they top them either, never actually put them in comparison.

"Only One" is a sweet ass track. Delving into Kylesa's back cat as a mildly enjoyed Exhausting Fire and hear their previous few records were much better - they've clearly lightened up since this, but whilst the sludgy/stoner psychedelic hard rock from EF is appealing, I do enjoy this record rather a lot
