Really? Cannibal Corpse is waaaaayyy overrated. I'd almost call them bad.

Brutal DM is a category that I never really used to listen to...and there's probably still quite a few bands that I should listen to...but so far I find the following bands to be the best and most interesting to me: Hour of Penance and Fleshgod Apocalypse (both their Agony and Oracles...as well as Mafia).

I wouldn't expect a child to understand Not one bad album while Chris Barnes was vocalist. GENRE DEFINING!!!! And the albums with Corpsegrinder are way more brutal and savage than the pro tools, triggers happy, soulless, overrated, mass produced shite that's being released now. Death metal bands seem more interested in sticking as much fancy guitar work into there shit these days and have forgotten how to write SONGS!!!

I think the problem is that most of who can't gets into Cannibal Corpse says that they are an overrated band.

I tried very hard to listen to suffocation's pierced from within,but couldn't get past a few songs.I don't know why, maybe it's because the production is sick and
my ears have bcome too lazy hearing a lot of DM albums with productions that r slick! HATE ETERNAL does the shit for me when it comes to BDM.

That's my favorite death metal album of all time. I, like you, didn't like it at first. I listened to the title track five consecutive times, and then I started getting into it.

Dying Fetus is orginal deathgrind. i'm vote other:
my favorite: Disavowed, Liturgy, Disgorge US, Brodequin & Aborted. this is general listening.

Deivos is my favorite Brutal DM band going right now. After Deivos, I'd go with Severe Torture, Vomitory, Prostitute Disfigurement, and Blood Red Throne.

Well i guess i only looked at the "death metal" part, ive done that more than once, but on the list up there itd have to be Dying Fetus

Its either Suffocation or Cryptopsy, If you class either of those as Brutal Death. Im not really a massive fan of this sub genre of DM.

Cannibal Corpse anytime! Though I also like Cryptopsy, Dying Fetus, Hate Eternal,etc but those are all hybrids. CC is the real deal! And I worship their bassist Alex Webster. He is so awesome! If you're really into Old school Death metal, you would like Cannibal Corpse, Spawn Of Possession, Morbid Angel(not new one of course ), etc. New Swedish Death metal sensation Aeon are also great(even complimented by Cannibal Corpse). But I guess some people have a liking for more diluted hybrid crap rather than the original one.

In those choices it would be Cryptopsy for me, followed closely by Suffocation, but apart from those theres alot of other band I'd rather listen to

Other - ORIGIN. Their latest album is amazing. Great dynamics. It's every bit as intense as all the other Origin records, but they've finally learned to write real songs.

More technical than brutal I believe.

Gotta say either Nile or Fleshgod Apocalypse. Both of which unfortunately aren't on the list
