Behemoth - Frontman Cleared From Bible-Tearing Trial

Polish Behemoth frontman Adam "Nergal" Darski has just been acquitted of insulting religious beliefs by tearing bible during the gig at Ucho in Gdynia Poland, 2007. As the justification of the verdict, the Court has stated that they will not define boundaries and limitations for artistic activities.

Prosecutors charged him with offending religious feelings but the district court in Gdynia argued Thursday that audience members who testified in the case said they were not offended.

During testimony, Nergal confirmed that the incident took place with the Bible. He remarked, however, that the concert at which it occurred, was a closed event/ticket. He added that the band depends on the fact that their concerts do not infringe on "outsiders who do not understand the message and may mistakenly understand it."

Nergal comments: "Im so glad to see that intelligence won over religious fanatics in my home country. Tho there's still so much work to be done to make things right... But I'm sure that I'm on the right path to ultimate freedom! The battle is won, but the war ain't over. Heil Satan!"

I won't question your dislike for the band as that is just musical preference. But why do you hate Nergal?

Woohoo congrats on the win Nergal. Glad to know that we can expect more from the mighty Behemoth in the future! @Beast every band who has fanatics are overrated in the eyes of the non-fanatics, it all depends on the reason for which you deem them overrated and on that note I respond with your statement is overrated...and cliche, lol

Why? Last time I checked, Poland was a secular state. And he didn't rip the living sh*t out of the Bible in public, but in concert, in front of group people who paid to see him and his band perform.
Honestly, I can't imagine how could he even be pressed under charges for this. Damn religious fanatics. It's like I sue some priest because he preaches Bible in the Church, because I'm an atheist. Don't make no sense.

I'm a Christian, and not a fan of Behemoth or Nergal, but I'm glad he was acquited. Religion =/= government, and people with faith have no right to be worked up over someone with a different, contradictory, or no faith.

I'd be more pleased if Behemoth tore up some pages from the Qur'an. That vile book is far more poisonous than the Bible at this particular moment in human history. Fuck Islam and fuck the pedophile false prophet.

Bible = Qur'an. Far more poisonous at this moment? Bible poisoned entire Middle Ages and beyond. Same sh*t, different package.

Sir, you have my respect.
Have a nice day

Also like many people already wrote: You can't really declare him guilty since it can be labeled as an artistic activities specially if it was a closed event with tickets so everyone who went there knew exactly what they were going to listen and see.

"Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's", so yeah, even Jesus wouldn't have been against the outcome.
But all the "I'm on the right path to ultimate freedom" and "heil satan" sounds very retard and contradictory if you're in a "war that ain't over" against other beliefs. Sorry Nergal

I'm glad he got cleared of those charges.
Now, let's just get one thing straight: The Qur'an hasn't done anything and neither has the Bible. None of them are "poisonous". Everything bad associated with religion has of course been done by people. A book does not and will never do anything. Make certain you keep the people responsible. One might use the Bible as an excuse to kill, while another may use it as a reason for helping someone. In both cases, the book cannot be held accountable of what transpires. End of story.

And being a christian actually is ultimate freedom, but that's a whole other story.

Hrmn...I dunno, you just don't hear about people going fanatic-style and killing people in the name of humpty dupty, the three little pigs, Dr. Spock's Baby & Child Care, Lord of the Rings, or Charlotte's Web. Those are all books just like the Bible and Qur'an, although they didn't spark things like the crusades, the spanish inquisition, the puritan witch trials, extermination of native peoples, 9-11, or any of the other countless religious atrocities within the last 2000 years, lol.

Also, christianity is DEFINITELY not ultimate freedom. I'm sorry, but I really don't think that ultimate freedom is living in fear of a jealous angry God that curses people for not doing exactly as he commands. Ultimate freedom is not being required to worship and bow to a spooky incompetent father figure in the sky on a regular basis with the consequences of being sent to firey hellish torment for eternity if you do not.

Yeah, freewill is all about believe in me or suffer eternally, that makes a lot of sense...especially when you consider that a lot of people throughout history have suffered far worse than christ ever did on the cross.

Hey Nergal, your next trick should be to burn a stack of bibles on stage. I would definitely buy tickets to that.
