and to make it easier on the eyes, you can do this:

[ url=address]Part I[/url[ (intentionally left a space and a reverse [ so the code was visible.

that would link the page, but only display "Part I"

i.e.


[ url=http://metalstorm.net/users/BitterCOld/profile]BitterCOld[/url] with the space following the opening [ removed yields:

BitterCOld

First glance, no major complaints. no ones list will match mine - or anyone else's, so people are bound to bitch. seems they did a good job at spreading the love across genres.

Nope, heard of them all ;] though not listened to all the albums on there. That Demilich album is great, and I think it's free too. Or at least it was.

Nope, heard of them all ;] though not listened to all the albums on there. That Demilich album is great, and I think it's free too. Or at least it was.

It still is on the bands website, Along with some Demo's.

I like the list so far but I wouldn't include Amon Amarth in this list if it were up to me, I wouldn't call anything they have released "Essential" (Opinions of course) even their best stuff I would just class as decent to mediocre.

I'll keep posting the continuations of this list when a new addition comes on Monday.
P.S if your on the site cheack out the interviews of an artist who made one the albums. There's:
David Ellfeson (Megadeth),
Jonas Renske (Katatonia),
Bob Vigna (Immolation),
And Johnny Hedlund (Unleashed)

No major complaints so far, though they're still lacking the album that's hugely influential to the modern Finnish melodic metal scene.

Yeah a shame this album was mentioned. But then again their interesting period started in the 2000s with a big low/dip with 2009's Memoria Vetusta II: Dialogue with the Stars. Problem with that album and their first two is they are quite your standard black metal fare.

Good to see Borknagar on this list, Although I would have put the Olden domain in Quintessence's place but hey maybe it will appear later on.

There better be By Inheritance on this list by the time they're through.

Not a bad list. Not all to my taste...Megadeth i can't stand, and i'd pick Primordial's Imrama over Journey's End.But like all these things it's down to the individual listener. I'm sure we could all come up with essential lists and we'd agree on some and not on others. There's probably one somewhere here on MS.
