I think you never hear about Old Kovenant or Titan Mountain or Odium probobly never and other good keyboard based BM bands

If you would hear tehm you wont ask em if tahy are good as DB... DB are overated and well know and those are underground Try Titan Mountain from Poland

I love the style of this band, especially after they've become symphonic.

Anyway. I agree, Vortex vocals are what makes Dimmu different from other bands. Also, listening to their latest albums, they've become kinda epic, IMO.

Jonas but It is not such BM like Immotal I had hera almosut all and thay are sypfo to maybe not so keyboard-ish

i also recently started listing to dimmu borgir there really good it took me awhile first to get use to them though.

You can't make such comparison. Theh production between both bads is completely different.

they were allways symphonic black, but even with there old albums they stand no chance against Limbonic Art, Covenant and (old)Troll.

Even if the comparison is not the best... K7 is right. They were symphonic from the very beggining. You just can't say that For All Tid and Stormblåst are not symphonic.

Not one of my favorite groups, but Vortex is pure awesome-ness. I do like their music, just not as much as some of the other BM bands.

Off course.. Those two band has a very dfferent sound. Is like compare Burzum and Mayhem.

AT OP: I've recently gotten into this band too... awesome epic black/death metal!!

fav songs: serpentine offering (duh), and the Fallen Arsis

EDT is the best one among the albums of DM that were more modern.

I recommend you the first two ones... "For All Tid" and "Stormblåst" they are a bit raw if you compare them to the new cds but they are indeed way more atmospheric and epic.

And if you don't like them... try SBD and PEM that are more easy to listen.

well metalstorm has to categorize bands because so it is easy for people to find what they would like to listen. but man first of all some times mistakes happen and seconldy when for example DB on early years had some symphonic elements it cant be always written. So they should write: 1994-1996: black metal, 1997-1998: black metal with a few syphonic elements and 1999-2000:black metal with some more syphonic elements. are you joking me? listen to the albums and make your own opinion. don't use metalstorm or other sites to categorize music. some times they are wrong.

Yeah, I agree with you Mr. Doctor, For All Tid and Stormblåst are way more atmospheric than there newer Lps, but are harder to get into because of being a bit rawer.

Using a voice box to do vocals is cheap as hell.

Formerly 2 years ago i could listen misanthropia there death cult armageddon .. but now vomit me from it .From sympho black i more all prefer Diabolical breed , Anorexia Nervosa , Emperor .....

I dont even care about what people say about Dimmu, Sorgens Kammer-Del II is BADASS. thats pretty much it though, with the possible exception of "The Chosen Legacy".

I just saw these guys on Halloween open up for Danzig. They were pretty good! Because it was Halloween, they didn't wear corpsepaint, which I thought was funny.

I may have to watch these in february when i go to see lamb of god. i hope they are on last so i don't have to put up with them through the wait.

I found for me black metal with this band(sorry for my bad english. i hope you will understand) first song of them that i heard was Metal Heart..but now i don't like them..but without them i wouldn't listen to black metal

I have almost the same feeling, I listen to the at times though... But there's a lot of BM bands that I just love waaaaay more. But I started thanks to this guys so I show them some respect for that

Yes..but i still like their first albums..for example For All Tid and Stormblåst..but their latest(or last? i don't know wich word is correct.sorry) albums..mmm...there is a lot of chemistry in the sound..
