Ok, personally, I don't particularly like In Sorte Diaboli - because well, it reminds me too much od DCA and I believe the guys from DB are capable of much more and not because of the band being commerical. For me DB are still the best BM band out there. And I am currently in the total DB mood and I live all albums from For All Tid to In Sorte Diaboli (not much of a fan, as stated before, but The Serpentine Offering is like one of THE BEST tracks they've done IMO) - some more, some less. I definately won't say I prefer their earlier albums if I don't (as some people who took the ''101 rule of BM'' a bit too seriously... ) HAIL DIMMU BORGIR (specially Vortex )

I personally really liked the new album, it could have been better in some ways, but overall, a VERY good album from DB. I dont think they are being too comercial. They just do what they want to do, and if they make money and gain large popularity from doing that in the Black Metal scene, that's no reason to call them " too comercial and lame"

In regards to the whole commercial thing. I do not know where Dimmu is being advertised exactly, I recall someone saying something aboutu there being a commercial on MTV supporting the new album, and what I have to say is: If you're watching trash like MTV and complaining about commercialism, then what do you expect? By watching MTV you are supporting popular music and the commercials that are advertising, and I think that paying tribute to MTV is worse than a record label supporting one of their popular bands. I was not aware of any commercialization until I came on here because I do not watch nor have television, it's complete garbage.

The new album isn't bad, but it's not wonderful, either. Too similar to the last couple, particularly DCA to deserve being called anything special. They've just recycled what they've done before. I'd say that it's the first time Dimmu have ever failed to progress much as a band, from album to album. I hope they manage something more interesting and more 'new' in the future, because they're capable musicians. The 'concept' was a tiny bit lame too, I thought. Personally, I like Stormblast and Spiritual Black Dimensions most.. EDT not far behind. They'll never be a favourite band of mine, but they're enjoyable to listen and I always look forward to hearing what they'll come up with next.

Dimmu Borgir surely hasn't been themselves since Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia, that album was good and the ones before that were awesome. The two latest albums are not bad, but they're not good!

They are constantly changing. First you get For All Tid and Stormblast, two excellent albums, then, we go experimenting. Some were successful, like Enthrone Darkness Triumphant and Mysantropia, maybe DCA as well, but Garden and Dimensions... was it really necessary to make them? I don't know

I agree that Dimmu are changing but i don't agree that its for the worse. i like pretty much all their stuff from 'For all tid' to 'In sorte Diaboli' i don't think they have gotten worse at all if anything they have gotten better. i mean 'Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia' is my favourite album by far but i think musically their getting better an i loved 'In sorte Diaboli' i think if you try and pin a band down to one or two albums an think they shouldn't ever change from when they played that then ur limiting the creativity far too much. there is only so much you can do with a style before you have to change or just fade away.... anyone at the manchester Show later today? see you there

I'm not a huge fan of dimmu borgir, but I enjoyed Death Cult Armageddon, Stormblast and a few songs from the other albums. Not sure why but I found In Sorte Diablo pretty boring except for the serpentine offering.

Dimmu Borgir are a decent enough band. Better than Cradle Of Filth, at any rate I enjoy the album Death Cult Armageddon, and I really like Vortex's vocals.

@Bisk Look, I'm not trying to downrate Dimmu or to pin them down, but it is my opinion that For All Tid, Stormblast, Enthrone, Misantropia, DCA are great albums, the first two their best IMO. I don't like every song and every album they ever published, I mean, even your favourite band can have some songs you don't like. I don't have anything against changing, look at Oomph, they've changed their sound a lot and they are getting better and better as the time goes on IMO.
