Additional info
The artwork was created by Portuguese photographer Rui Luz and THY CATAFALQUE mastermind Tamás Kátai. "The album title means 'vast, trackless forest' in obsolete Hungarian language", Tamás explains. "It's a kind of summary of what the whole record is about. This word is a symbol, it means more than merely a forest".

It was recorded that he, one of history's finest war commanders, kept a journal chronicling the major events of his life. However, something mysteriously strange happened shortly after his death; the last page of his diary was torn out never to be found again?

The Prophecy

"We had previously captured Belgrade, Rhodes and nearly Rome; the moment of penetrating the virgin leas of Hungary through its Carpathian Mountains has never been more propitious. And so, I marched. With an army of sixty thousand men, I marched. Until the sun darkened dim, I marched. Until it finally peered on the far side of a boundless tassel-withered cornfield somewhere near Makó - a vast, trackless forest girdled by a wreath of darkness and swollen mist perching nigh the field wherein we stood like the roaming shadow of Óðr. We stood staggered, leering at the beguiling woodland that God had left untrodden; torn by senescence, dust and solitude for only demons to feast on. The masterpiece was complete when a Septentrional draught stirred amidst the five giant trees guarding its gates revealing in the process the message that was engraved on the trunk of the tallest; the prophecy:

What? Isn't "Beautiful" descriptive enough? OK, fine then, what about "avant-garde atmospheric metal with BM roots"? Yeah, that's what I thought. Beautiful is better.

And Hungarian does really sound poetic.

Turns out they aren't singing about anything; rather, they string together nonsensical foreign words that form incomplete, unrelated sentences.

I'd like to know what the hell Tamás is saying in his (beautiful) solo album too. Turns out that my body is provided with another kidney.

Great work, but sounds like a continuation of "Roka.." and this makes it slightly predictable.
As Tamàs himself says, "Rengeteg" is more straightforward and metal, but always full of strange things that make it unmistakably Thy Catafalque. I'm not disappointed at all but I keep preferring "Roka"'s weirdness.
Best song: "Fekete Mezők" summarizes pretty much everything I love about this band.
Definitely an amazing release, I think it will soon grow on me.

EDIT: And, in fact, it did. Excellent album, it manages to be massive, simple and atmospheric at the same time. An easily rounded up 8,5.

For those of you, who are not familiar with Tamás Kátai's previous band, Gire, I recommend a few listens, their album is great, with the well-known ambiance but with more metal elements, growls, it is also a masterpiece!

I'm sorry to disappoint your theory, but the lyrics have quite much sense if you speak the language. In fact, all the lyrics are forming the same shape and meaning as the music itself, like some avantgarde folkish poem or something. I'm willing to translate one (1!!) single song just tell my which one do you want.

Is Trilobita an archeology-related song, or more representative of an encrusted-heart... anyone familiar with Hungarian would be helpful.

Well, more of an encrusted heart, "trilobite heart" is mentioned quite often (Trilobitaszív). Here it goes:

[1]
Ha a völgybe legurul a nap majd, - When the sun rolls down into the valley
a melegbe trilobitaszív - into warmness, trilobite heart
dobol újra, beledobol halkan, - beating again, beating (in) silently
ver a földben trilobitaszív. - beneath the ground beats trilobite heart.

[2]
Forog, fordul az anyag a testben, - The matter turns, rotates inside the body
leszek házad, trilobitaszív. - I will be your shell, trilobite heart.
Vigyél által ezen a világon, - Take me with you in this world
dolgozz bennem, trilobitaszív. - Work inside of me, trilobite heart.

[3]
És a síkra kigurul a nap majd, - And the sun rolls out onto the field,
a melegbe trilobitaszív - into warmness, trilobite heart
dobol újra, beledobol halkan, - beating again, beating silently
ver a földben trilobitaszív. - beneath the ground beats trilobite heart.

[2] again

[4] - well, I'm not really sure about this part because it's more the part of hungarian folklore than the way we talk nowadays. The word "hejj" és "héj" are words of raising awareness, like the trilobite would say these things to the world.

Hej, lerohan a lét, - Hey, existence overruns me,
hej, lerohan az élet! - Hey, life overruns me.
[repeat]

I think it's 90% percent accurate. I tried to translate the actual meaning, not writing some gibberish that rhymes to it.

"The Quaker"
Thanks to all of you for thanking me Maybe I do more in the near future. Like NOW

Here's "Kel Keleti Szél" (Eastern Wind Rises):

[1]
Át folyamokon, túl a hegyeken, - Through rivers, across the mountains,
végteleneken, rengetegeken - Infinites, vasts
kel keleti szél, hogy hazavigyen, - Eastern wind rises, to bring me home
hogy hazavigyen, hogy hazavigyen. - To bring me home, to bring me home.

[2]
Jön alagúton, vaskerekeken, - Comes through tunnels, iron wheels
át a hidakon, gyártelepeken - Across bridges, factories
kel keleti szél, hogy hazavigyen, - Eastern wind rises, to bring me home
hogy hazavigyen, hogy hazavigyen. - To bring me home, to bring me home.

[3]
Át az anyagon, rőt szöveteken, - Through the matter, rotten fabrics,
szerveken és szervezeteken - Organs and organisms
kel keleti szél, hogy hazavigyen, - Eastern wind rises, to bring me home
hogy hazavigyen, hogy hazavigyen. - To bring me home, to bring me home.

Very true, with Hungarian being a very poetic language, it is not especially easy to translate the lyrics into English and keeping their actual meaning and ambiance at the same time. Very good job by the way with the translations. I have also translated the first three songs from Róka hasa rádió to Kenos, I will post them on the relevant album site if anyone wants to check. Also not 100% translations, just like qlacs did in his excellent works, I had made literal translations instead of poetic ones, feel free to read them.

"Fekete mezők" must be one of the best fucking metal songs ev*begins headbanging*

Well then, you can enjoy the song with lyrics now, though it will hinder you in headbanging.

Fekete mezők - Black fields

Sebesség, mozgás, dinamika lendül, - Pace, movement, dynamics gets in motion,
rohanó kerekek robaja dalunk, - Our song a thud of wheels hurtling along,
zakatol a jelen, készül a jövő, - The present clattering, the future being constructed,
rohanó kerekek robaja dalunk. - Our song a thud of wheels hurtling along.

Mechanika-ikonok lángja felettünk, - Flames of mechanic icons above us,
nyers tömbökben feszül az idő, - Time swelling in crude blocks,
alakít, formál, termel a haladás, - Progress forms, shapes and generates
nyers tömbökben feszül az idő. - Time stretching in crude blocks.

Tűz vezeti az elmét, gyújtja a dalunk, - Fire guides the mind, ignites our song,
ó nézd, fekete mezőkön láng a tudomány! - Oh, look, science is a flame on black fields!

Sebesség, mozgás, dinamika lendül, - Pace, movement, dynamics gets in motion,
rohanó kerekek robaja dalunk. - Our song a thud of wheels hurtling along,
zakatol a jelen, készül a jövő, - The present is clattering, the future is being constructed,
rohanó kerekek robaja dalunk. - Our song a thud of wheels hurtling along.

Szárnyakat szerkeszt testnek az akarat, - The mind constructing wings to the body,
hajtja a magasba millió szív, - driven to the heights by a million hearts,
repüljön, szökjön, meneküljön messze, - may it fly, soar, escape far away,
emeli a mélyből millió szív. - driven to the heights by a million hearts.

Tűz vezeti az elmét, gyújtja a dalunk. - Fire guides the mind, ignites our song,
ó nézd, fekete mezőkön láng a tudomány! - Oh, look, science is a flame on black fields!

Meteorok égnek vörösen a Földnek, - Meteors burning in red to the Earth,
meteorok égnek fekete mezőknek. - Meteors burning to black fields.
