He has done it again. Alexander Von Meilenwald has put out another brilliant Black metal opus. I am now fully convinced that this man is a musical genius. I know reviewers need to maintain a sense of objectivity, but we also need to recognize brilliant music whenever it slaps us in the face and have the balls to spread the word. And well, this is us fucking wreckingball.

Black Metal outfit The Ruins Of Beverast need no special introduction. The great Alexander von Meilenwald (formerly of Nagelfar) has been making masterpiece after masterpiece for over 13 years now. But he really reached the peak with Foulest Semen Of A Sheltered Elite.

Now incorporating more doom elements than ever, RoB has a new sound, with a MUCH much more polished production. Adding a lot more clean vocals, which I enjoy, that add to that more doomier sound. It also features pretty great guitar solos. This album is a huge improvement over Rain Upon The Impure. While a very different album, you can't deny that this is another masterpiece.

Sorry guys, I am really disappointed by this. I do not know whats so especial about this that makes noticeable staff/ elits like Lucas, Joe, Mr Doctor and Troy praise it. It just did not worked for me. The vocals are annoying. The drum is just terrible in faster parts. Most importantly, it lacks the emotional impact which doom metal is supposed to have. 4/10 for me.

Wonder who put the doom tag here... Since when is this band doomy? Just black metal. Fine one at that but that's my opinion.

I admit it has been ages since I listened to it. So I will give this the benefit of the doubt till I hear it again and can whine about it.

At any rate the tag (which I implemented by the way) doesn't stipulate that this is purely doom, rather that doom was introduced on this album. It's a very close mix but the overall doomy vibe definitely outdoes the black metal aspect.

TRoB always had a little bit of doom in their black ... 2nd song on Rain Upon the Impure could be easily written by Mourning Beloveth or MDB

This is not a pure doom metal record for sure but IMO it still can be classified as doom influenced album. I have not listened to any blackended doom album so can not put this in that category but it at least tries to combine doom and black metal.
Beside the genre tag, I did not liked it. Doom or black, it failed to impress me as much as I thought it would

hahaha! true. I'd say it looks more MTG to draw a line but it is most assuredly Yu-Gi-Oh what with the broad style of art... I feel very nerdy right now.

I change my rating from 4 to . It is not that bad (it is actually pretty good I must say). Especially during the slower parts, band have impressive sound. "Mount Sinai Moloch" track is 9+ IMO and the other good tracks are the intro and outro. I still believe that faster parts are not that good, though

TRoB seems to be another one of those one man wonders. Every album impresses me with its uniqueness and incredible sound. An excellent album, "I Raised This Stone As A Ghastly Memorial" is probably one of my favorite songs now.

Same lol. I shared it with my brother and he also loved it. I wish they would replicate that sound on other songs of theirs. Nothing else I've heard from them seems to measure up to that one.

Gave this the first full jam in a while today during some dark, rainy Portland weather

Still Von Meilenwald’s best, a colossal triumph for blackened doom, and one of the few albums I’d say deserves a perfect 10 on here
