Because apparently there are people around who think it is important to know where a band is from.
But for me it doesn't matter where one is from as long as it is good.

I agree but in Germanmy has good bands, from may till yesterday I check all band sin MA from Ger and and there was alot of good bands, werry good and awsome bands, but its hard to get them specely mid 90ties

here are some:

Every country has very good bands. Germany isn't better than any other country in that respect. They have loads of bands cause it is a big country.

Every country has very good bands. Germany isn't better than any other country in that respect. They have loads of bands cause it is a big country.

Thats where I agree about it , because even in Columbia, Bulgaria, Belaruusia has good bands, but german metal % are good qualitu a lot of good bands in 80ties, 90ties and nowdays , but thay had to many bands, because mortal man cant hear them all in life

exactly. would somehow be logical if you live in germany and you want to see some local bands in your area...

Aside from those, if you are looking for black you should try Dark Fortress (Melodic Black) and Bethlehem, not exactly black this last one but it has a very doomish approach, good one.
There are tons of good teuton bands: Crematory (Gothic), Brainstorm(Dark Power, very good), Leaves' Eyes(Symphonic)..... and of course the big names.

Here in France, due to that band German lessons at school are getting more and more popular brrrr not to say fashionable.
And once watching a French talkshow on TV that we can interact with sending SMS, someone send "thanks to TH France discovered German Music".

Haggard , the best symphonic metal ever
Dark Fortress, one of best black metals Iv ever seen, a lots of innovations you can find in this band.
Sun Of The Sleepless ,not much songs but all songs are masterpieces in my opinion!!!
Noek, completely different prog metal, lots of innovations and very interesting orchestral vocals.
Helrunar ,one of my favorite folk black metal band, I love their split with nachtmar.
etc...

And Empryium, a mighty band of doom and folk.

Germany is known for their speed metal so Blind Guardian, Helloween, Grave Digger, Running Wild, and Rage. For progessive metal you have Poverty's no Crime, and Vanden Plas (one of the best german bands, definitely one you should check out). Folk Metal I suggest Odroerir, Finisterra, Runkel, or Die Saat (blackish folk metal). If you enjoy old school I suggest Iron Angel, and Stormwitch. Thrash Metal Kreator, Sodom, or Assassin.
A band you should definitely check out though is Falkenbach who play a blackish viking metal.
