What are some metal bands that are popular here on Metalsotrm that you don't like/never cared for?

For me it would be Immolation. I've listened to a couple of their albums, but none really appeal to me.

Now I agree.

Thankfully I've got to a point in my music listening habits and tastes that no bands bother me as such. I know what I like and what I don't and how to avoid them. I think the only purpose of disliking something is if you're trying repeatedly to like said band but failing. I know to avoid Agalloch and their paint drying sessions, Amon Amarth's dead horse flogging parties and new-era Shining's exercises is lifeless dross but I can't say they weigh on my mind at all. I'm also gleefully oblivious to the world of power metal and its ilk. Just about knowing what to try out and what not. I didn't bother with the new Metallica, as I generally tend to avoid most thrash band's outputs. I don't see the point of writing an essay on all bands that didn't appeal to me, it would probably be a fraction of the length of an essay of the bands that I did like though.

Exactly. There are far more bands to dislike than there are to like.

Pretty much the whole alternative metal section.

Children Of Bodom and In Flames I guess...they're highly ranked around here...I just never could get into them...

From the top 50: Iron Maiden, Death, Children of Bodom, Dream Theater, Nightwish, Blind Guardian, Ensiferum, Dimmu Borgir, Wintersun, Sonata Arctica, Lamb of God, Rammstein, Cradle of Filth, Cannibal Corpse, Kalmah.

I'm a fair and balanced disliker - there's heavy, death, power, progressive, symphonic, viking, black, metalcore and Cradle of Filth

I just never got the jam-band/death metal mash-up. It's always felt really weak. I guess they're trying to appeal to a broader audience.

Children Of Bodom, Megadeath, Lamb Of God just to name a few.

Primordial has always bored the hell out of me. Uninspired music with a guy singing his heart out. No thanks.

There are a couple of bands I never cared for... But it's a list too long.... technically it is like: I cared for the bands I added as favorites, if it's not there, then there are two possibilities: Never heard of it, or don't care for it

So you never heard any cheesy stuff? Dude, what did you start with anyway?

I never bothered for thrash, 90% of black (I've heard some of that post/gaze thingies but they didn't rock my boat anyway), any death without a melodic influence. And random 'symphonic' bands with female singers - tried a bit, liked a few, never bothered with the rest. I know when something's not for me.

Just realized I have to update my bands list.

What an excellent thread. Kudos for the idea!

Iced Earth, Dream Theater, Kreator, Windir, The Gathering, Judas Priest, Children of Bodom for me. I listened to each of these bands at some point, but then I found out I wasn't moved by their music one bit. I'm not calling them bad or uninteresting in general, those are all excellent bands, they're just not my cup of tea.

Oh, and I second !J.O.O.E.!'s post.

A fantastic number of people states they've never ever liked CoB... a lot of my friends who started in the early 2000s say it was kinda all-encompassing to listen to them at the time, so I'm baffled.

Oh I've heard cheesy stuff.

I started with Slipknot and Korn, then As I Lay Dying, BFMV, Lamb of God, Devildriver, then a lot of the thrash bands from the '80s, then worked my way into the first wave of black metal and the rest is history.

Well, I agree. I started listening to metal more-less around 2000, and CoB was in almost all metal mp3 cd's I got from my friends. They were okay then, I loved the neoclassical guitar (it was new for me at a time), but I hated Alexi's growls/screams (again, it was new thing to me). There's was something between CoB and young metalheads in Serbia, I suppose

But later, I somehow lost interest in them. Not my cup of tea, as I said.

Yay, you're lamer than me :3 I got started with classic rock, then some glam, then Sabbath, Maiden, and Sonata at the same time was back in the end of 2005 down to summer 2006 before highschool.
Call Kamelot cheesy again and you get shot though.

I first heard CoB through a friend which I didn't know was even into metal, and now she's my best friend, although not very much into metal nowadays.
I get people who don't see CoB as their cup of tea... but people being butthurt about them being childish nowadays? Bitches please, like they were ever serious to begin with.
