No actually I've never seen Mastodon live

If you'd seen them live I think you could understand what he and I in this case mean. Musically it's totally not that sort of macho heavy metal shit at all but then again neither are Metallica as such.

Yeah well depends, Metallica could be percieved musically more like it than Mastodon but I didn't know that they looked like douche on stage LOL

I dsisagree, Remission I find more macho than anything Metallica ever released

Metallica first...

Then black and death bands...Burzum, CoB, Arch Enemy, Death, Amon Amarth,Cradle Of Filth etc.
I hate this style...but I rather listen to them then Metallica

Deicide (probably not alone here at all)
Ozzy (post Black-Sabbath)
Children of Bodom
Dream Theater

Megadeth, They may be Influential and all but listening to all of their 80's albums I find them incredibly boring, Good musicians though.

Necrophagist, For the same reasons above, Good musician(s) but some horrendously boring music. Sterile, plastic, Death Metal IMO.

Dream Theater, Never really got into this band at all.

Burzum, Influential but just flat out boring to my ears.

Why the hate for Sepultura?

Jeez, it would take me forever to list all the bands I've never cared for but here are a few:

Deicide, Sepultura, Kamelot, Turisas, Marduk, Behemoth, Therion and Opeth. ... Blasphemy, I know.

Of the top 50?

Metallica, Children of Bodom, Pantera, Dimmu Borgir, Iced Earth, Lamb of God, Cannibal Corpse, Cradle of Filth, My Dying Bride.

Those are the ones that I'd say I actively dislike. There are plenty of top 50 bands I'd say I'm not crazy about, but this crop are the bands where the word dislike is heavily involved. Especially Pantera, god damn.

I like Opeth but I can't stand Agalloch, so not all that weird ;]

Some real popular bands i've never cared for... Opeth, Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Iced earth, and Ozzy.

I'll give everything a try, usually.

I have an aversion to pansy-assed flowercore though.

Not even the mighty "Black Lake Niostang"? That song is BEAST!!! (new word my 16 year old daughter taught me)

There is A LOT i can put down, as i kind of jumped from Classic / Progressive Rock straight to Heavy Metal. So i basically skipped all Alternative / Nu / Thrash Metal bands except maybe Megadeth.

Some popular bands that i have rarely listened to are: Metallica, Anthrax, Children of Bodom, Black Sabbath.

I never found myself able to get into Motorhead as much as others. I have 25 songs of theirs, many of which I barely listen to. They're older albums were good, but I find their later stuff boring. I also have not been able to get into anything like Grindcore, save a few Napalm Death songs.

I'm not sure, the people might ignore the laws and just mob me for saying that. Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of respect for the band and what they have done, and Lemmy is an awesome guy, just they're music doesn't click with me as much as it seems to with other posters.

Slayer, Deicide, Sepultura, Possessed, Opeth, Iced Earth, Dimmu Borgir, Cradle Of Filth, Therion, Kamelot, Dark Tranquility, In Flames, Dream Theater, Pantera, Epica, Symphony X, Insomnium, Nevermore, My Dying Bride.... The list goes on...

Top 50 bands I don't care about. With all respect for the hard work and musicianship of these people:

-Iron Maiden
-Opeth
-Dream Theater
-Nightwish
-Blind Guardian...

Make that bands out the top 20 otherwise the list will be too long

Opeth eh? Heritage blew me right the fuck away...kind of a band that deserves a lot of respect....

It's not uncommon. Agalloch is my favorite band but I rarely find myself spinning Opeth records nowadays. The two are very seperate entities.

But you HAVE listened to Opeth before, so you must have liked them at some point. I'm just referring to the title of this thread

Lots of comments for Opeth and Mastodon but both were my favourites at Heavy TO. True that I did not really appreciate them before this but I will be seeing them together again in Montreal in April. For goups popular here but on my dislike list: Iron Maiden, Metallica, and Judas Priest. Big names, I know but they do nothing for me. Yes, I bought Lulu because of Lou Reed!
