I dig these guys. Both in person and musically. But that is horrible art work. Especially compared to the last album's art work. The song is quite a departure, but pretty good and very thick in atmosphere. I see myself buying this one.

For the record, this is unlike anything they've ever done. Their old stuff is kind of that plastic symphonic type of black metal with some metalcore influences.

I didn't even know they could write a 12-minute song. This is the first time I'm actually anticipating new material from them.

I had my suspicions, I find it hard to swallow that a band making this kind of black metal could garner the rather negative response they seem to get from the internet community.

The cover looks like some rough computer graphic highschool project where the student had to make a stained glass composition. Hate to critique it so bluntly, but it's how I see it. I didn't see a fly's head, I saw a guy in a hood. Now that you mentioned it, it looks like some kind of alien in a robe.

I'll definitely be buying this album for the music though.

They have progressed sooooo much as a band. I remember when most of them played in a band called Vehemence. Been listening to them since their first cd. When I saw one of the last Emperor shows that played in the US they opened up for them. Have seen them many many times since then and everytime they get better. I can't wait to hear the rest of the album.

Definitely. I hope the haters will realize this. If not it's their loss, but even a person like me can objectively look back on their career and see the maturation process.

People need to get over their first album. Ever since then their sound has progressed. In the Absence of Light was a great album, just a preview of what direction the band is headed to.
